I was hoping the Ducks would win the top seed because Dallas matches up really well against them. I'm not brave enough to call the upset, but I see the Ducks being tested in a series that goes 6 or 7 games.

Again, I dont think the Stars win the first series but the way the bracket fell really is the best thing they couldve hoped for. They play both SJ and the Kings really tough too.

Stars fan here. Really glad to see the franchise back in the playoffs, regardless of how this series goes. The team has certainly played well against the Ducks during the regular season. It's all going to come down to Kari for the Stars (as usual)

For the resident Ducks fans here...who's your pick to man the pipes right now?

Stars have done okay this year. I certainly didn't expect you guys to make the playoffs. Really closed out strong against Pheonix and St. Louis. Been impressed with Seguin's play as well.

Just looked at Dallas' roster. Is Sergei Gonchar the oldest player in the league I think he was in NHL 95 when I was in college.

I really wanted to predict a Pens sweep but it looks like Malkin is out for at least Game 1 maybe more.

Close, but Selanne, Jagr, and Brodeur are older.

Shouldn't Chicago win decisively over St. Louis? St. Louis is heavily injured and Miller has not been playing well.

Actually, Chicago is injured as well, but I don't think as much as St. Louis.

If I look at the bracket again is it me or does it look a lot like the old way of doing things?

Like when the divisions played each other and the winners of the two divisions played in Conference finals.

Yeah its like the old days.

Basically the division winners play each other in the WCF and ECF.

Its pretty much 4 divisonal brackets but the wild cards can crossover, it just depends on the records.

Those were just wars and the hate that built in those series was genuine. I like going back to old way. Now all that is needed is to ship Gary back to the NBA and the Habs find a French Canadien goalie and change the law back in Quebec to what it was.

He's not even the oldest player on the Stars. Ray Whitney is older by one year.

Brodeur this year was much more of a figurehead. He's like an out of shape punch drunk boxer these days. Jagr has already retired and came back. Selanne man....I am almost 40 and I remember his rookie year when I was in High School

I'm fricking stoked.

It hurts not having Horton, but as Baloo said we are very deep and it won't be a huge glaring hole, someone else will have to step up.

That said, Ryan Johansen will need to be huge again for the Jackets. We struggle to score at points when we can just ground and pound people to death and get "gritty" or "cheap" goals depending how you look at it.

Johansen is the one that can overpower defenders and get to the net and score great goals. He is gonna be a star in this league and I hope we pay him after this year and lock him up long term.

That said, the Pens are explosive in their first line or two and if the CBJ can sustain the first line, then have a lot of time with the rubber with our superior 3rd and 4th lines we can make it work.

Bob will have to be world class as well, which he is certainly capable of. The Jackets get a much needed rest after playing 4 games in 99 hours. I think the CBJ can steal one in Pitt. It would be awesome.

The two only worries I have for the series:

1) I hope we don't get swept, and I don't see it happening. This is a legit team.

2) I hope the Pens don't overrun Nationwide Arena on Monday.

He will be extended, no question. He should be getting a very nice contract too.

A lot depends on when the Pens get some players back.

Malkin and Vitale have been skating with trainers but not practicing so I don't expect them to play in Game 1, maybe Game 2 with the 2 days off between.

Goc is a big loss depth wise and faceoff wise. He's top 15 in the NHL in faceoff win percentage, something we need and that is huge for the PK and your depth lines. I doubt he returns until late in the series, 3 week timeline and he's about at 3 weeks now.

Luckily Stempniak has been just amazing since being acquired.

Letang has played as well as he ever has since coming back, which is remarkable.
