Now we know why Kaep wasn't cut. Chip Kelly agrees with him

I've seen a few reports that depending on how things go, he could be let go later in the season. If another team claims him the assume the rest of his salary, saving the 49ers cash.
It could also be another RG3 situation, where the 49ers don't want risk him getting injured late in the season and make next year's salary guaranteed.
