but this years NBA finals was one of the best I've seen in a while along side the heat/spurs from a few years ag

What? We had 1 competitive game. Before last night it was the least contested finals ever ( games were won by the biggest margin)

NBA get paid $2.66 billion per year by ABC, and they are worried about 20,000 additional tickets plus concessions and tshirts.

ETA: I'm trying to keep track of this conspiracy. ABC is in on it because they have the most to gain. NBA is in on it because they might use it as leverage in their 2024 contract negotiations. The Warriors and Cavs are in on it because of additional ticket and tshirt sales. The refs are in on it because Rolex. Am I missing anybody?

People that think the NBA is rigged are dumb. The amount of people that would have to be involved to rig a finals series would all but guarantee it getting out and someone would have proof.

Chill the frick out first of all. Secondly I don't give a shite if it was rigged or not I was only pointing out the fallacy in the people that believe the NBA wouldn't gain anything.

Fine, let's amend it.

The NBA wouldn't gain anything even remotely worth the risk. Like it would never even cross the mind of any NBA exec that it could be worth it.

I quit watching when the Celtics got robbed by the Lakers a few years ago.

I quit back when Bird and Magic were playing. Celtics were leading by about twenty points going into the fourth quarter. LA defenders would hold Bird's Jersey throughout the forth quarter, preventing him from moving. No fouls.

Professional sports is for entertainment and money. Who could argue that both were maximized in seven games.

The NBA gained having the greatest finals narrative ever. 73 wins with the first unamimous MVP and defending champs verse Lebron local kid who has a touch and go relationship with the home team he returned to break the longest pro title drought in America. That is the kind of shite that gets more people interested in the NBA. Also, i've already said I don't think they definitely rigged anything or made sure any outcome was possible. Just that it influenced the decision to change the Draymond foul and suspend him and also call weak fouls to get Steph or Klay in foul trouble. I believe if Cleveland went up 3-1 then GS would've gotten the same treatment. They just gave them a slight advantage to catch up. They wanted the narrative to have a game 7. If it didn't then it didn't, they just provided the rubber band effect a little bit. That's my take anyway.

People are so mad that they are literally insinuating that it wasn't that Cleveland had a historic finals comeback...naw...it was literally the biggest conspiracy ever among a major television network, the national basketball association, referees and possibly players.....

If you are in here saying this series was rigged, you are, in fact, a moron.

Don't know if it was rigged but the officials were definitely on Team LeBron.

Now explain why the refs/nba didn't push last year to 7.

Easy GS didn't break the wins record last year, Steph wasn't the unaminous MVP, he was the darling coming out of no where, the Cavs players were all hurt, GS playoff run was different last year (they didn't come back from a 3-1). This year was THE BEST finals narrative at least of my lifetime, this years is the kind of narrative that draws a crowd that doesn't watch basketball. I'm not even saying it 100% happened. I just think with the way things unfolded it kinda looks like it did and wouldn't be surprised if they did try to give Cleveland a slight, note slight, edge.

Rigged?

No. Legally nothing can be considered "rigged" in the NBA or NFL. There was a thread on this.

Entertaining?

Yes. I don't watch the NBA because I don't appreciate their form of "entertainment". But the series did go seven games and the final game was close.

Were you entertained? Legally, that's all that matters.

And the NBA knew absolutely none of that would happen when presented with a Game 6 in last years finals.

You're right they didn't. Not sure how that makes a difference. Why try to influence a year where there is nothing to gain. The whole premise, at least mine, is that last year the narrative would have had no impact on who watches the NBA, this year it could.
