Yeah, I don't see the hate for ND. Kelly is a top 5 head coach, imo.

I've watched every game and they play teams who play really well. ND is always so solid in their games. They have dealt with injury after injury and they just keep producing great numbers.

Kelly is an amazing coach.

I don't know that Id say Kelly is amazing. To me, its Urban and Saban. I'd like to see more from Harbaugh before admitting him that level. I do think Kelly does a good job. some of his in-game play calling is questionable. using what was essentially your third string qb all year with this success has been impressive though.

It's gotta be between him and Dabo for coach of the year... Unless I'm missing someone

Notre Dame lost their starting QB and RB to start the year.

This week they go to another backup RB.

I mean, what does Kelly have to do to earn some respect? They are one of the most complete teams in football right now.

McElwaine maybe going from being picked 3rd in East to winning it and 1 loss.

what Kelly and ND have to do is beat an elite team in a bowl game. off the top of my head, it has been awhile since they have done that. like a real long time.

Dude, they beat LSU in the Music City Bowl last year.

It was HUGE. Ask any ND fan.

look, I think Alabama is good and has tons of talent. its fine that people are deferential to them and accord them respect. what is not fine is giving that respect to the rest of the SEC. like I said, ten years ago maybe that was cool, but it is not now. This "big boy" football jazz does not hold water.

It was "huge" for the program in the sense that they got the SEC monkey off of their back. Even if it was an 8-5 LSU team, they showed that they have improved since 2012 with playing a big, physical SEC team (despite the record that LSU o-line was legit). LSU fans can downplay all they want, but if LSU beats Notre Dame it is "SEC rules, ND drools" childish stuff. It is perfectly fine to admit that there are 100+ teams outside of the SEC who play football and occasionally one of them is good.

alabama might not have a win vs. a ranked team and a much worse loss, where are the questions about them?

Disagree. Obviously they'll have the same record and ND will have the better strength of schedule. Plus, one common opponent, who ND beat (in blowout fashion) and OU lost to.

Go down the line:

Clemson vs. winner of Baylor/Ok State. Advantage ND.
Navy (if Navy wins the AAC) vs. loser of Baylor/OSU. About a push.
Stanford vs. TCU. About a push, if not advantage ND.
USC vs. Tennessee. About a push, if not advantage ND.
Pitt vs. WVU. Push, if not advantage ND.
Temple vs. Texas Tech. Advantage ND.
Texas vs. Texas. Push.
Virginia vs. Kansas State. About a Push.
Georgia Tech vs. Iowa State. About a push.
Wake Forest vs. Tulsa. About a push.
Boston College vs. Akron. About a push.
UMass vs. Kansas. About a push.

(Obviously things can change. If Navy doesn't win the AAC, Stanford loses to Cal and/or the Pac 12 Championship and USC loses to UCLA and/or Oregon, it could change things.)

One thing to consider, too, is we really don't know just how good the Big 12 is. The conference's best out of conference win is either Oklahoma over Tennessee or Texas Tech over Arkansas. Those are two teams that will finish at best 8-4 (and one of them lost to Toledo).

The third best win would be either KSU in triple OT over La Tech or TCU over 4-6 Minnesota. That's right, the third best out of conference win for the entire conference is either over a 3- or 4-loss CUSA team in triple OT or a team that probably won't even be bowl eligible. Someone earlier made a comment that ND's best win is a service academy while OU just beat a top 5-10 team. How do we not know Navy is better than Baylor? I'm being serious.

lol there's plenty of computer metrics out there. We will look at those when the season is over.
Some of what you just posted there is pretty funny, though.

I took a lot of assumptions. However, to your other point, assuming both finish 11-1, the computers will almost certainly have ND ahead of Oklahoma. But we may find out.

BTW, I think an undefeated Ok State would have the right to be ahead of 11-1 ND, but I don't think any one-loss Big 12 team should. If there were to be one, I'd say Oklahoma, since you at least beat Tennessee OOC, though I still think ND should be ahead. But Baylor, TCU, OSU... absolutely not.

Thanks for proving my point

Sorry, There was nothing special about that win.

But keep wearing your music city Bowl champion shirt with pride, and keep pointing to that game as proof that your team is super fricking awesome now.
