Maybe today we can give up Carey Price for more aging defensemen.

So glad we could hang on to guys like Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn though.

Frick life right now

The Oilers traded one of the best offensive players in hockey for a pretty good stay at home defenseman.

Uh no, they pissed away a talented Forward for a guy you could find on many rosters, and for less of a price.

a very horrible deal for edmonton

Exactly. Some Blues fans are not taking everyting into consideration. Shatty suppsoedly has a list of 4 teams he will sign an extension with if traded. Edmonton isnt one of them. Blues fans acting like it was armstrong just pissing away Hall for shatty deal probably dont even realize this stuff. In no way is Edmonton trading Hall for one year of Kevin Shattenkirk.

Uh no, Blues fans know there wasn't going to be a hall or eberle for Shattenkirk deal, unless Shattenkirk agreed to a new extension.

But there was an offer of RNH for shattenkirk, no extension on table.

So if Armstrong does not get a better player than RNH, he failed miserably with an asset.

Reading about the potential backlash for the Preds if Weber retires before his contract is up (he'll be 40 in the last year).

Is there any way to keep this from happening? He would count $24 million against our cap if retires in the last year.

If he's traded again or traded back so he can retire a Pred, does that change anything?

Boll being bought out doesn't really help the Jackets at all. They still don't have room to make any signings that will better them. They should have just sent his arse down to Lake Erie the entire year and saved the money they are now eating next year.

the human pylon, players skated around him like he was standing still.

had a great rookie season playing on a line with Macinnis, never lived up to the hype. His game was not for the new NHL. clutching and grabbing was his game.

Why the uh, no? Your statement in no way contradicts mine. If anything, mine is harsher, as I'm calling Hall an elite player and you're just calling him "talented". He's not just talented, he's productive. Alex Semin is talented, but he's a guy you don't want within a time zone of your roster.

from a friend of mine who lives in raleigh who always has access to meet and greets and access when the habs play the canes. I'm guessing he spoke with the GM of the canes. You can believe what you wish though.

Honestly taking all the off-ice away this trade is fair and should help both teams. I talked to a GM who was not involved in the trade yesterday to access the deal and he put it this way:

PK is a 10 out of 10 when he is at his best and he is there about 70% of the time. 70% of the time he is the best defenseman in the NHL. When he isn't at his best his still a solid 7. Shea Weber is a 8.9 and never less than an 8.5.

There are ridiculous amounts of people in Montreal who are not giving Shea Weber enough credit at all right now. It is insane. There is a reason Shea Weber is a top pairing d-man on Team Canada and can dominate the game. Shea Weber makes every player around him better. You need to watch him night in and night out to know what Weber does. I will go as far as saying to truly appreciate Shea Weber you need to see him live. He directs traffic constantly. Pointing other players on his team to pick up spaces and players they need to.

Shea Weber is NOT in a decline. Stats folks will tell you he is. He has been forced to play a different game under Laviolette and I think that has affected the fancy stats. Barry Trotz's style is closer to Therrien than it is Laviolette.

Love this new plan

Trade away your best player for a slower older defenseman
Sign guys who were in the KHL
Piss off the fanbase

Radulov said he'd swim across the Atlantic to play for Roy. He must still think Roy is in Montreal.
