Some of the things that have already happened:

Toronto traded for goaltender Frederik Andersen from Anaheim, then signed him to a 5-yr, $5M per season deal. Ducks got this year's 30th pick and a 2nd rounder next year.

Arizona traded for negotiating rights to defenseman Alex Goligoski and then signed him to a 5-year deal for $5.475M per. Dallas got a 5th round pick.

Defenseman Sami Vatanen re-signed with Anaheim. 4-yrs at $4.875 per.

Goalie Cam Ward re-signed with Carolina. 2-yrs at $3.3M per.

Florida traded a 6th round pick and a conditional 4th to the Rangers for negotiating rights to defenseman Keith Yandle, but have not signed him.

Nashville traded Jimmy Vesey's draft rights to Buffalo for a 3rd round pick.

Vincent Lecavalier retired.

A few have offered a first rounder. Blues want more than just that.

Pretty damn cool if Cole Harbour is in fact naming a street after Crosby. Well earned and really cool if they are.

quote:

Speaking of his home province, there was talk on Wednesday that a street will be named after Crosby in his native Cole Harbour.

He’s a little overwhelmed by the thought. While he’s a very loyal Pittsburgher, Crosby often longs for his hometown. He lives a very busy life. There is always noise around him. In Cole Harbour, he has his peace.

“I don’t know,” he said of the thought of a street being named after him. “That’s a compliment. That’s definitely something I don’t necessarily think needs to be done. But that’s a compliment if they feel that strongly and want to do that. That means a lot to me. I think about Cole Harbour all the time, my friends there, growing up there. It’s a special place to me. It would mean a lot. But by no means is it necessary.”

God, slow day. There was a trade between Colorado/Florida involving Grimaldi and Berra.

There is a rumor Calgary is going real hard after Bishop if Tampa has decided to make Vasya the starter.

Tons of rumors around PK Subban.

Edmonton, Colorado, Vancouver.

Is Montreal willing to trade him?

Montreal doesn't deserve PK Subban. That guy is a treasure, and they treat him like dirt.

Also didn't know Big Georges was still playing. He's on a team in Norway's 2nd Division.

ETA - Nevermind. He's retired. frick Wikipedia.

Would love to see Blues move Shattenkirk, and then make a move for Wayne Simmons.

He's the perfect fit, for a leader they havent had since Macinnis/Pronger. He also has a sweet contract, with only a 4.75 cap hit. Which is a great contract and cap hit for a guy with his game.

I'm a big fan of Wayne Simmonds, but there's no way in hell the Flyers are trading him. Unless they suddenly become as stupid as the Rangers or something.

How bad of an overpay is that for the Panthers? Don't know much about NHL contracts and the cap.
