Why in the world did Jarmo and JD protect Ryan Murray? Guy is garbage.

He played better last year.
I think we will be fine. I'd much rather give up a draft pick and a prospect than give up someone like Josh Anderson.

On what planet? He was trash.
I don't mind giving up the pick to keep Anderson. But protecting Murray is mind boggling. He's not even a top 5 d-man on the roster.

Neal is a 30 goal scorer. I don't think it's that little of a loss for the preds.
Also commits dumb penalties at inopportune times.

I'm not much of an NHL follower, but the team seems pretty damn good to me for an expansion team as compared to prior ones in all sports.

...they havent drafted yet
But yes they could potentially have a decent team. NhL knows with vegas getting an nfl team, they need to make a splash this year

My bad those were notable unprotected players on the espn crawler, not the actual team

I was kind of hoping someone like Kovalchuk would end up in Vegas but sounds like he's down to Philly and Boston.
I feel like a big international star would be good for LV.

Hopefully Nill can get something done to deal one of the Stars goalies.

Not sure if finalized, but Cbus is trading their 1st round pick to Vegas, so three players on their unprotected list to not get selected.
Vegas is going to have best shot of any expansion team to build a winner, in any sport.
these picks for a couple bad contracts, picks to not select players.
they could end up with 6-8 picks in first 40, if things go crazy.

They better draft well if they aren't going for known commodities.
Getting rid of the David Clarkson contract boondoggle will be great for the Blue Jackets as well.

You bring up an interesting point...
Aside from the top 15 , most nhl rookies go to the minors and dont even play in nhl.
If vegas has all these picks and not known commodities, they will be garbage in year one.

Biggest thing working in favor of Vegas is the talent pool available to them as opposed to the early 90s teams like Ottawa, San Jose, Tampa and Anaheim. I don't know how different the rules were on how many players to keep or salary cap then - obviously the money was much less - but they have an opportunity to compete right away rather than take five years to watch all those younger players/draft picks improve.

If this rumor is actually true, I might cry in happiness.
Then they either trade or buyout Hartnell, they the Jackets are back in a fantastic cap position.

Shane Doan still wants to play, but is leaving Arizona.
He's fricking 40 and will probably sign with a playoff team, but Vegas could do worse for a captain if he's interested.

@A_Kalnins: Appears Vegas Golden Knights and Evgeni Dadonov have resumed contract talks and he is likely to end up playing in Vegas next season.
Well now they'll have 2/3rds of SKA's top line..just leaves Kovalchuk.

The line was Gusev-Shipachyov-Dadonov. Gusev replaced Panarin when he went to Chicago.
Kovalchuk was on a different line.
