What determined how many players each team could protect? It looks like certain teams have more protected players than others.

Well actually Joel ward is likely to be picked, he's dark. I'll be surprised if they take Bobby Ryan's contract on but he's a good player

Kind of disappointed we didn't make a trade for a D before the deadline. Really didn't need to protect Braden Schenn. (I like him too.)

Letting Neal go was for sure the right thing to do. Järnkrok's contract is pretty dang friendly.

you have to remember, Vegas GM has been talking to these teams for months, there are guys Vegas won't take, because of gentleman's agreement between the teams. With some backside action later down the road.
While some teams are begging Vegas to take a player and are offering 2nd-3rd round picks to take on their bad contracts.
Vegas will have to take on at least 2-3 bad contracts to get to the cap floor. Who will be the candidates and what was the price.
I'm hearing Blues have a deal with vegas to take lehtera. Price will be known soon enough. hearing anything from a 3rd to a 1st. I think it's some where in 2nd to 3rd round. Blues have to clear cap space.

Neal is a 30 goal scorer. I don't think it's that little of a loss for the preds.
