What? I have Denver below Arizona and I've been critical of the offensive line and quarterback play. How am I a homer?

Denver is an interesting case. They've basically morphed into 2014 Seattle, and while the offense is slowly moving into Peyton's wheelhouse execution wise again, how much juice does he still have and will it be enough when it starts to get cold outside. NE can neutralize the pass rush with the quick passes, and while Chris Harris would be a huge obstacle, I don't know how Talib would handle the quickness of the Pats WRs.

On the other hand, what if he improves? How strong of a team can Denver be then including their incredible defense?

All hypotheticals, of course. Some days he looks good, some days bad.

They are the largest variable in the league. Chris Harris is your Gronk though, if he goes down its a world of hurt.

He's incredible, but I think Aqib Talib and Bradley Roby have both graded out positively in PFF rankings this year. Would definitely be a huge loss, though. He can play all over the field.

Teams are already clamping down on the short routes and just openly baiting him to throw it deep. If you have a FS with range, you can afford to get burned a couple of times because you know the ball won't be there in stride for a TD.

The Patriots are susceptible to this if Gronk gets hit. Brady is awful with the deep ball, but Gronk up the seem is deep enough.

Broncos have looked very beatable. I see 2 games on the Falcons schedule that are possible losses (panthers). If we lose 4 or 5 games I'll be disappointed.

Falcons have not been more impressive than the Bengals thus far,
Why? Is their schedule that much better?

Eye test. But they have some tough games coming up so we will see how good they really are.

Atlanta has looked aggressive and opportunistic, so I'd have them up there. They will climb because of that schedule I don't see more than 4 losses.

True, but seems like Dalton is becoming the new Peyton Manning of the playoffs. Decent regular season, then come post season he is just god awful. Cindy has had such a talented team for 4 straight years now. Dalton has always been the problem for them.

At this point, I think it's clear that the best teams in the league right now are

(in no order)

New England Pats
Green Bay Packers
Denver Broncos
Arizona Cardinals
Cincinnati Bengals
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Falcons

Top 5:
1) Green Bay Packers
2) New England Patriots
3) Arizona Cardinals
4) Cincinnati Bengals
5) Denver Broncos

In contention: Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons

At this point, IMO, the top 3 teams are definitely Green Bay, New England and Arizona. Cincinnati, Denver, Atlanta and Denver are all interchangeable, although I give the nod to Cincinnati because of their comeback against a pretty good Seattle team. Carolina was on a bye week, and Atlanta and Denver struggled against inferior teams.

Seems like almost everyoone agrees the top two teams are the Patriots and Packers. After that, there is a gap and you have several other teams that all have a good argument. Obviously the undefeated teams (Bengals, Falcons, Panthers and Broncos) get serious consideration,as well as the Cardinals. Not too many people talking about the Jets who also only have one loss.

If I had to rank the teams, it would be.

1. Packers
2. Patriots
3. Broncos
4. Bengals
5. Hotlanta

I'll bash Manning all day, but even with him in full blown game manager mode, they can compete with anyone.

Seattle is just as good as Cincinnati, probably better defensively.

The Bengals have a more prolific offense at this point though I think. They have a bunch of weapons:

Gio
Hill
AJ Green
Marvin Jones
Sanu
Eifert

If Dalton can play this way through the playoffs, they have a great chance to get to the AFC title game vs the Patriots.
