Neutral site games in cities like Houston & Dallas & Atlanta

Never been to a Texas-Oklahoma game at the Cotton Bowl at the State Fair of Texas? The atmosphere is awesome, no matter the records.

I think the problem with neutral-site college games is playing them in sterile, professional football stadiums (Lambeau excluded).

They have torn down the big municipal stadiums like the cotton bowl though.

The only "meccas" I can think of are very old and nobody would agree to it

Yale Bowl
Franklin Field
Rose Bowl, wont unless UCLA is there

Soldier and Lambeau are the only two people would go play in.

I guess you can try to play in Wrigley, Yankee, Fenway, etc?

OU/Texas in Dallas and Florida/Georgia in Jax are the exceptions.

While I agree, how cool would games in Athens and Gainesville be for those games.

Wasn't that big of a deal the last time it happened. Could have been that UF dropped 50 plus on them in Athens and Gainesville.

UGA fans never had a problem with it being in Jax until Spurrier showed up.

You have to have one close team in order to fill seats. LSU is always going to bring a lot to Houston and Arlington. The LSU Wisconsin deal was more of a home and home without actually being in Tiger Stadium or Camp Randall, instead two neutral sites where LSU was home team in Houston with Wiscy benig home team in Lambeau.

I just want LSU to play some of these deals in Tiger Stadium and we won't get that until Texas and UCLA roll onto the schedule.

Plus LSU is already lining games up in Atlanta, Orlando and New Orleans with a 2 for 1 with Rice with one game in Houston.

It's all about the $$$. We're getting over $6 million to play Michigan next year in Jerry World.

I just don't believe this was equal... if we're hosting in Houston they should have hosted in Chicago or Minneapolis...

They make money and they are easier to arrange than a home and away

There would be very few people at some of those games. Not that the gate is where the most revenue is to be made, but this board would bitch and moan about it the way it does about minor bowl games.

Which games?

Penn St would sell out Pittsburgh most likely
MU always draws a crowd in Arrowhead
IU and UK in Indy would be about 50k probably
Florida usually sells out in Florida
Rutgers/MSU, I can see a bad gate of any of them.

Minnesota in a new dome that is state of the art? That would sell out.

IU / Kentucky was the main one that stuck out. Those schools don't draw huge crowds at home when they're good, and they draw HORRENDOUS crowds when they're bad. UK's 2012 attendance was so bad that it was a major factor in Joker Phillips' dismissal. MSU / Rutgers at MetLife was another that I thought might be poorly attended.

Other than vengeance, is there a more worthless poster on TigerDroppings than tigerbait2008? I'm drawing a blank.

I'd love to see LSU play a game in Dublin just to watch the two fan bases mix, the locals & the thousands of LSU fans who would make the trip. When the Golden Band went, locals were blown away by the "festive" crowd that came with the band.

Considering LSU's catholic fanbase, it's ironic we've yet to be chosen.

How about doing away with all these "neutral site" games? I want to play at FSU on campus. Playing at Jerry World or the Georgia Dome is dumb.
