Having an argument. Can NCAA football players have a job in general? If so, be specific with the timeframe that they can have a job. Does the school, conference, or NCAA prohibit college football players from having a job in fear of boosters over paying and getting the school/athlete in trouble? If you can, provide your answer with links. Thanks.

Yes, they can. They can't be paid more than anyone else for the same work and their status as a player can't be what lands them the job (I have no clue how that one would be enforced).

You can have a job. Just have to prove that you got the job through normal means and that your employer is not providing you extra benefits.

Then what is the argument that players should get a per diem, because they can't have jobs.

Because generally the times of classes, practice, games, traveling, study hall, having and keeping a job and working enough for money to live on is a major stretch.

You think it would go over well if the starting qb at Bama, LSU, or Texas tried saying he didnt prepare as well as he should have bc he had to pick up an extra shift or 2 delivering pizzas?

As has been established earlier in this thread they can have jobs as long as they are treated the same as everyone else

I believe 6 or 7 years ago Oklahoma had a starting QB who was suppose to be the shite get in trouble for getting preferential treatment at a car lot or car wash job. He had to transfer and was hardly heard from again.

Rhett Bomar maybe?

Bomar got paid for doing nothing they falsified time cards is he was paid higher rate. It was a summer job at car dealership. Kind of like Jackie building his house and the contractor had to hire his players, but then had to have second crew to do the work.

The pizza delivery job is hilarious.

"Thanks for the pizza Clowney! Here's the $20 for the pizza and a $700 tip. Good luck this weekend. Hope you come back next year."

BS...if they go to summer school they'll get their monthly
stipend (around $1,300) for at least 2 months and they can still knock out some credits. Say they get a summer
job @10 per hr for 10 weeks (if they're lucky) they're really not gonna come out much better...friends son who
played D1 only used about half his stipend every month
especially in summer school.

If you come from a poor family you get another 5k in pell grants on top of your stipend money.

Come to think about it, would that be an NCAA violation? I mean it would be shady, but I can't imagine there is anything illegal about a tip.
