The owners got less than what they asked for, they do not owe the players anything in my view.

The percentages are what you need to look at not the nyumbers, as the tv deal is going to explode the numbers. The owners in no way owe former players anything in terms of insurance, unless it is contractually written in or bargained for. Which it will not happen this time. It is not the owners job to keep the players protected from themselves.

I never really understood why we can't recognize someone may have screwed up something on their own and still feel sorry or pity for them.

Especially when talking about 18-22 year olds.

It's called negotiation. Start out asking for everything and be able to come back in the middle. Did the owners get everything they wanted? No. But acting like they took a bath in negotiations is absolutely ludicrous.

Um. I've done that 3 times. 57>49-51. It's even worse for the players with the new tv deal.

Great. That has nothing to with your, frankly, absurd belief that the owners made big concessions in 2011. Any thought that the owners didn't get a huge win in the 2011 negotiations is either willful ignorance or flat out misunderstanding of what happened.

I was saying this in another thread, but what you don't realize is that a lot of these guys Were first guys in their families to make it big/ make a 6 figure+ salary. Our current education system doesn't and didn't teach financial and money management. I think we have to consider what these guys are coming into and the societal pressure in which they are coming from. It's easy to say "you should be able to invest it and make it grow" when you don't
Holy excuses. Good fricking lord do they ever stop? Kosar let his father manage his money. Who the hell needs to teach you that that's a horrible idea?

It IS easy to say they should have invested it. Find a trustworthy agent and financial advisor(that doesn't look or act like Clay Davis) and go be an athlete.

If I would lobby for a mandatory 15-20% of your yearly earnings, pre-tax, to be stashed away in retirement fund that can only be accessed 10 years after a player retires.
