Is it true that NASCAR is dying?

Check the stands tonight for your answer.

Oh and putting it in FS1 isn't helping any either. Billy Bob can't watch with his digital antenna and he isn't paying the extra for FS1 if he has dish or direct.

But to answer your question, a once prime time tv event is relegated to FS1 since nobody watches

For all intents and purposes, yes, it is dying.

Went to Talladega last weekend. Was jam packed. The guys I went with said it hasn't been like that at any other race this year. I know TSS id arguably the best track on the circuit, but why is that? Is it bc none of the tracks have like a cool distinct feature each week? (BTW my Nascar fix is the Talladega race once a year so I'm a novice lol)

Dega is always packed out, it's a race with an affordable ticket in the middle of redneck country. But even Dega has removed the back stretch seating in some areas I believe. I prefer Bristol to Dega but that probably results from my short track dirt days.

It is sent to FS1 to drive up ratings for that channel. NBC does the same thing for the NBCsc.

Ratings and attendance may be down from 10 years ago but it is still very popular and paid attendance is still very high.

Chase got nailed leaving pit box. Should be blamed on spotter.

To the guy that asked if it's dying, it certainly isn't growing. Gordon, Stewart, and now Jr. retiring has hurt. I was a big fan until Gordon retired. I'd watch practices, qualifying, and wouldn't miss watching a race. Now I'm more of a casual fan. shite I've probably been to 20 races but the last was probably 5 years ago. Just ain't the same without Gordon.

The younger class of drivers coming in is exciting. Blaney, Elliot, Dillon brothers, Whitt, Larsen, Saurez, and others coming up is exciting.

The future isn't the old school but is bright.

It's bright if we can get off these cookie cutter tracks where the 10th place car is half a track behind the leader. Boring 1.5 mile racing is just as much to blame for NASCAR's demise as anything else. These new tracks have no character, nothing to draw excitement from.

Texas went through a repave this year which changed the turns. I think more of the 1.5 mile tracks are going to do the same thing in coming years.

If they can change the track profiles then it will make it seem like those tracks aren't "cookie cutter " anymore. The Texas Spring race actually had drama for the first time in years. Adding in the stages this year has made a lot of races fun which may not have been.
