I don't think FGCU played UConn. I think you're thinking of Georgetown
Correct. My bad. My brain works in weird ways.

Probably the greatest run IMO. That '97 Kansas team was essentially unbeatable. frick Arizona
My two favorites are George mason and FGCU. Davidson was pretty cool but they were pretty good and everyone knew about steph curry. They were a popular pick. George mason took down that uconn team that was absurd and made the final four. FGCU was awesome because they were shitting on teams and looked amazing doing it. Didn't even seem flukey.

Our run with Alford.
We beat Wisconsin and Tennessee bad got all kinds of press and interviews due to it. Then played Duke in their closest game of tourney until they lost in Final.
We had a blast and enjoyed it.
Beat a 5 in Wisconsin and a 4 Tennessee at Charlotte Coliesium. Then went to the Meadowlands to play Duke.

The GMU run was great in abstract, but most of their games were kind of duds. And the great UConn upset was more UConn falling apart for some odd reason than GMU playing a great game.
Dunk City was fun in its own right, but I loved the original Gonzaga run. It came out of seemingly nowhere.

I know it's a 'homer' pick, but LSU's '86 run as an 11 Seed was pretty unreal.

Casey Calvary was raining threes.
I think that was the year that Harold Arceneaux and Weber took out Carolina in first round.

LSU 86 was pretty incredible
It was the last year home sites were utilized and they beat Keady led Purdue and a pretty good Memphis team at home before traveling to Catlanta and taking down Ga Tech and UK (both those teams were loaded).
That was at a time when teams kept players for 3/4 years and were tough experienced teams

1986 LSU Tigers.
Seeded 11th, the Tigers beat the #6, #3, #2, & #1 seeds in their region to qualify for the Final Four. Lost to eventual champ Louisville with Purvis Ellison in the Semis. At the time, the lowest seeded team to make the Final Four.

It might be before some of the folks on this board's time, but the run by Loyola Marymount was pretty awesome. It was also without their best player in Hank Gathers. Also, the Michigan run the year before in 1989 with Glen Rice was pretty good.

that stuck out in my mind about florida gulf coast as well is that they blew out their opponents.
i think Va Commonwealth did the same thing in their runs, IIRC they beat kansas pretty easily in the elite 8.
that butler team grinded out every victory and played in some really boring games.

George Mason because they were the first team from outside the typical power structure to make the Final Four.
What most people don't remember is that they barely made the tournament. They lost to Hofstra twice in the final 2 weeks of the season, including in the CAA tournament semifinal. Many thought Hofstra, not George Mason, would get in as the CAA at large bid along with CAA tourney champ UNC-Wilmington
George Mason got in and Hofstra didn't. George Mason's inclusion into the field, as well as Utah State and Air Force's at large berths, caused Jim Nantz and Billy Packer to whine on the air during the selection show about how those 3 teams didn't belong and how Cincinnati, Florida State, and Michigan did(3 teams left out).
George Mason was also missing their point guard Tony Skinn for the first game against Michigan State because he punched a Hofstra player in the balls during the CAA tourney.
So they pretty much had to overcome that and people telling them they didn't belong to make the Final Four, although it did help that their Sweet 16/Elite 8 matchup was in Washington D.C. right outside of Fairfax VA where George Mason is located.
