The comeback win against Arizona in the Elite 8 when down 15 with 4 to play was the best finish I have ever seen.

The refs were atrocious in that game.

I'm pretty young, but this was the best college team I've ever seen live. They came to the Breslin center and absolutely murdered a msu team that went to the final four

That was the best TEAM I have seen in my 25 years. There have been teams with better players (obviously UNC that year and many others), but they had players that did their role to perfection. Defense, making the extra pass, different players stepping up each night. The most fun team I have ever seen from a fundamentally sound stand point.

U of Kentucky's first national championship after Rupp.

Jack Givens, 6 4 small forward had a great senior year, got drafted first round and failed in the NBA. For a few glorious months, he was the difference, hitting long jumpers from the corner, and Roby and some other 6 10 horse outlasted a nice Duke team to win it all.

U of K website:

Senior Jack Givens put on one of the finest individual performances in NCAA Championship history in leading the Wildcats past the Blue Devils.

With many Kentucky fans among the crowd of 18,271 chanting "Goose, Goose," Givens scored 41 points, three short of the record for a championship game, to help the Wildcats to their fifth NCAA title and first in 20 years.

Givens' dominance was clearly evident in the first half as he scored 23 points, including UK's last 16 of the half, to turn a 29-28 UK lead into a 45-38 cushion. It was a deficit from which the Blue Devils would not recover.

Overall, Givens made 18 of 27 field goal attempts, five of eight free throws and added eight rebounds and three assists.

Givens reminds me of a topic: guys who did well in the NCAA finals and who were drafted in the first round and flopped completely in the NBA.

Howard, of Villanova jumpers from the corner carrying Villanova over Western Kentucky and their future ABA all star center.
Howard had maybe 3 good games for the Chicago Bulls and mostly meh.

Player of the year Lennie Rosenbluth, 6 5" jump shooter for North Carolina beat Wilt Chamberlain's Kansas team in 3 OT. Jump shooter could not cover his grandmother and the Philadelphia NBA team WAIVED HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF FIRST SEASON IN THE NBA.

Just imagine if you had the right coach for that team.

The Goose was most certainly loose.

I obviously really enjoyed last year's UK run. Going into the Tournament I would've laughed if you told me they'd beat who they beat to get to the NC game. Especially unbeaten Wichita State.

Davidson with Curry in '08 was a lot of fun to watch. And of course Butler. I think all the really good ones like Villanova, NC State, etc we're when I was still fingerpainting.

that bracket with Louisville, U of K and Wichita State was the best in a long long time.

Being biased, it would had been the run UK made last year. Knocked off some big dawns on the way to the Championship.

Not necessarily the most exciting run but one of my personal favorites was 02 Maryland. They blew a nice sized lead the year before against Duke. Main reason I loved that run was because Juan Dixon was my favorite college player. Was nice to see him go out on top

Not a cinderella, but Arizona in 1997 was fun as hell unless you just hate Zona for some reason

Those 2-3 weeks turned me into a Zona fan for life. Bibby, Miles Simon, Dickerson, Jason Terry, and St Aug's Eugene Edgerson were awesome. I couldn't believe they beat that UNC team.

Kent State's 2002 miracle run to the Elite Eight. They beat Oklahoma State in the first round, walloped a really good #2 seed Alabama in the second round, beat #3 seed Pitt in the Sweet 16 in a thrilling OT game, and lost to Indiana in the Elite Eight because they shot an unreal 15/19 from 3pt land. On any other day, Kent State was playing well enough to beat Indiana and get to the Final Four. I lived in Kent at the time, and that tourney run captivated the entire town. It was the first national publicity Kent State really got since the national guard shot the students in 1970.

Its about time somebody mentioned the Golden Flashes. That team was flat out awesome. I attended Kent at the time. The campus was bouncing off the walls. Most people dont realize how big of a school Kent State is. Kent was like 31-5 that season. If Indiana doesnt have one of the flukiest shooting performances in the history of the NCAA tourney, Kent wins and advances to the Final 4. From 98'-03'...Kent state went 144-38 as a program. Good times!!

Utah and Kentucky's respective runs in '98.

Utah beat some ridiculous teams to reach the final, where they lost to Kentucky in a great game. Kentucky was coming off their upset loss to Arizona in the previous year's final and had lost a ton of elite talent. I remember Jeff Shepard dominating that tournament.

Not the most exciting, but Northern Iowa's run to the sweet 16 after upsetting (8) UNLV and (1) Kansas was pretty awesome. They were beating Michigan State pretty good in the first half, I just remember Michigan State having a huge second against them in the Sweet 16.

Well, since I am an Auburn fan and my team's basketball history is NOT attractive to say the least, I would have to say that the most exciting run to me personally was Auburn's run in 1986 to the Elite Eight (beating Arizona, St. John's, and UNLV, and losing to eventual champion Louisville).

butler's 2 year ncaa run is one of the most amazing feats in sports. for them to be national runners up was once in a lifetime, but 2 years in a row was flat out crazy.

In hinesight, it wasn't really flukish or crazy. Gordon Hayward is a legit top 30 player in the NBA now. Doesn't diminish the cinderella aspect at the time, but knowing what we do now, they were incredibly underrated/underperformers during the regular season.

think of all the great teams that never made it to the national title game, yet butler was there twice in a row and came within a hair of winning the championship the first time. as someone else noted, prior to butler, GMU was the only small conference team to make it to the final 4(thats why many here all calling GMU's run the best). However, gmu got destroyed in the final 4. butler won both their final 4 games. a lot of these great runs people are bringing up were sweet 16 or elite 8 runs.

the only knock on butler would be that a lot of the games they played in were grind it out, boring games. they lost to probably 2 of the worst 3 national title winners in recent history, and their game against uconn was a disgrace to the game of basketball.

i have zero problem with people being more excited about other teams individual runs, but their 2 year run was once in a lifetime.

kentucky's run was as exciting as anyone. They trailed at half of their last 3 games. The comeback against Duke was epic.

FGCC was awesome. That was the most fun I ever had watching a cinderella team.
