Luhnow won't make a deal for Beltran, unless it's a tweener prospect or one who is blocked and surplus.

He was groomed under a system where you trade assets for guys who have a few years on contract and help now and next year. Not piss away assets for rentals.

I would be shocked if they gave up more than a C prospect for a Beltran.

The Astros aren't parting with any of these guys for a half season of a 39 year old DH.
.

Yeah everything I've read about Beltran's value is he'll return a mid-level prospect.

There's some people seriously overrating Beltran's worth

Beltran and Pineda to Texas

Who we giving NY?

Definitely not Gallo, Profar, Brinson or Tate for either of these guys.

Which wouldn't happen, Yankees will not get an A prospect for him but it would take at least someone from the next tier.

I'd probably do Moran for Beltran.

Not Profar or Gallo but it would be players that would be considered good.

The issue is, is that Texas has a surplus of solid middle infield prospects, something New York doesn't need.

I could see Derek Fisher and some low level prospects for Beltran.

quote:

Derek Fisher, OF, Grade B: Age 22, hit .305/.386/.510 in 151 at-bats in Low-A, .262/.354/.471 in 344 at-bats in High-A, combined for 22 homers, 31 steals, 65 walks, 132 whiffs. Ferocious power/speed combo but lots of questions about how batting average/OBP will hold up at higher levels. Except for a weak arm, may have the best overall toolset in the system but feel for the game has taken more time to develop. Supplemental first round pick from University of Virginia in 2014.

Just looking probably something centered around Matuella or Martin and throw in some lower prospects who have a chance at the majors.

Not sure how the Rangers feel about those two pitchers as both are recent draft picks with potential.

If Texas needs a backup since Choo and Fielder are out do you take a chance on Tex?

No. We already have enough past-their-prime players (or, in Choo's case, never-weres). And Tex wasn't all that well-liked in the Rangers clubhouse on his first stint (his East Coast snobbery didn't fit well with the Rangers' generally loose atmosphere).

Beltran, maybe, but not for Gallo or Profar. I'm OK with letting Gallo go but not for a rental.

He will always be the biggest bitch in the MLB when it became public that he complained to management about Wash railing cigs in the clubhouse.

The White Sox appear to have reversed course in the midst of a significant slump, as Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the club is now open to selling off veteran pieces this summer (Twitter link). The Sox intend to keep their rotation intact — taking Chris Sale, Jose Quintana and presumably Carson Fulmer and Carlos Rodon off the table, much to the chagrin of interested parties — and are intent on holding onto top shortstop prospect Tim Anderson as well.

This leaves Todd Frazier, Melky Cabrera, Austin Jackson, Brett Lawrie, Dioner Navarro, Alex Avilia, and Miguel Gonzalez as possible trade options.

Jose Abreu is signed until 2019 and is making $39 million over the next three seasons. That contract might make it difficult to move him.
The guys I listed are either free agents after this season or next season.

He is more attractive than those players and the contract is not bad.

Yeah, that contract won't be hard to move if he can at least maintain his current numbers. Abreu gets pounded with inside fastballs now because it has been identified as a huge weakness. But he seems to be adjusting enough to remain solid if not spectacular.

Would bring more back than anyone else on the roster not named Sale or Quintana

You could make a strong argument for Adam Eaton though.
