Till Mattingly comes home....

I think Girardi has another 2 years if he continues to hover around .500. Maybe 2018 they bring in a new manager when they start spending again.

Hopefully Judge, Mateo, and others get action this year so that next year the Yankees could be one of the youngest teams in baseball.

Yeah, I don't think anyone expects him to be in Miami for long, even if he wins there.

I'm not sure if he comes back to the Yankees, he is having success in Miami though.

Hoping once the Yankees lose Tex, ARod, Beltran, CC, and start rebuilding around Bird, Didi, Judge, Castro, etc they bring in another manager.

Firing Kevin Long may not have been a great idea and whatever happened to Severino they need to figure out.

I want to see
Beltran
Gardner
Chapman
Miller
Evoldi
Pineda

all dealt

If I was Cashman I trade Beltran to a team in AL West (Texas now that Fielder is hurt) that is where his value is. Chapman should go to the NL and keep Miller, as the contract wont kill you. I think the move that is going to be interesting is what do you do with Tex? If healthy he can be a great rental, but is he worth what you have to give up?

ETA:

If Texas needs a backup since Choo and Fielder are out do you take a chance on Tex?

You keep A Rod as he is a marketing draw still.

I think the crazy thing is I started a thread this preseason asking about the Yankee pen and how good it could be. Well we are never going to be able to see how good it could be because the starters never could give them or hold a lead.

ETA:

Chapman as a Giant is just handing them the Commissioner's Trophy

He is barely playing right, basically a platoon although I know he is closing in on 700

It has been very good when all 3 are healthy and ready.

Can't see the Astros doing it but we've had no stability ay DH. Gattis is awful and is basically platooned at catcher vs LHP. Beltran would be a boost to an inconsistent offense and I don't imagine he'd be too costly.

My cohort @JimBowden_ESPN reported Texas got shut down on Archer. But Rangers just had 3 scouts watching him, Matt Moore & Jake Odorizzi

Heard from another executive today that "untouchable" wouldn't describe Rays' stance on Chris Archer. Listening. But want a "huge" return

So that guy basically says "Schwarber might not even be as good as we think, but the Yankees should totally give the Cubs Miller and Chapman for him"?

That is how I took it as well... basically if Schwarber is Napoli is WAR over the next few seasons is more than what Miller/Chapman would provide.

Would the Astros part with 3 of the 4

Martez
Paulino
Abreu
Moran

That is the least that it will take to get Beltran from them I think.

The Astros aren't parting with any of these guys for a half season of a 39 year old DH.

There have been a lot of Cubs fans on fangraphs recently basically saying that Schwarber was an organizational cornerstone.

So he wrote an article saying that he wasn't the case and, he will still likely be a good (not great) hitter and his value is worth a 1/2 season of Chapman and 2-1/2 of Miller.

That is why Houston wont get Beltran. Cashman wont deal him unless someone is willing to give up young arms and young position players.

All the Astros need to do is call up Bregman, let that new international player develop for a month and call him up and then hit it hard next season. They are going to be really good.
