That is just stupid
why? he doesn't qualify for the ERA title, and has pitched so little to say he is top 6 ERA is not correct.

He has been

I expect his ERA to rise a bit as he pitches more but he certainly has pitched enough this year to know what to expect out of him.
I disagree, we've seen countless players start out hot and fade and vice versa. You've seen the potential but you have no idea what to expect.

Nobody was talking about winning awards and the arbitrary rules to qualify. He has the 6th lowest ERA in the AL. That's just the facts.

Well, either you play by the rules, or you accept that he's nowhere fricking close to the 6th lowest ERA in the AL, because if you throw out the qualifiers, he has the 66th best ERA. That's a fact.

And a rule that's in the MLB official rules can hardly be considered arbitrary.

Since we are going by no-qualified pitchers.... I see 66th best ERA now. Facts are facts...

c'mon, this is a pointless and stupid argument

Moving on,

Is Houston rumored to be in on Upton?

And if your an astro fan, would you rather have a deal to get: Ramirez,Parra/Gomez. Or Upton? I know Ramirez has been hitting the ball, he started off really bad, but when he gets hot, the guy can carry a team.

They are rumored for a bat... so any hitter that is available I believe they have checked on.

I think 60 innings is a good number. So I'm gonna go with that.

fits the Cardinal profile.... they get a player without giving much up... when was the last time the Cardinals made a big move at the trade deadline Matt Holiday?

I think 50 to that Betances and his 1.40 ERA can qualify then

Hey, as long as you are cool with using arbitrary rules.

don't know, guy has shown he can get people out, and Lilliquest is doing another hell of a job with the staff.

Not sure, but Lilliquest is not getting the love he should. He's done a hell of a job with all arms, not just older rejects and has beens, like duncan did.

He has his young kids on target as well as the vets on the staff.

The better question is when was the last time the Cardinals needed a big deadline move

It's not arbitrary. It was proven through the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute that a pitcher is who he is for the year after 60 innings. It was proven through thorough research, testing, and statistical information.

It's science.

Off topic flame

Always thought it was ironic that as a fan of the Raiders in NFL you would beat the drum about your high picks and young talent and being promising, then lose a shite ton of games

But as mlb fan, you are a fan of a powerhouse, but shite on teams like the Cubs and Astros have built their systems with YOUNG, PROMISING players.

Anyways, think I read Cischeck has been hot since being called back up.

I don't think I've ever even posted about the Astros, and the Cubs should be self explanatory, frick the Cubs.

He pitched Saturday and Monday 3 innings no runs 3 K but Philly and AZ too. Before that hadn't pitched since the 7th. So idk.

I'd pass.

Every team at the deadline has holes, so every team could use a big name player. However, not every team goes for that... Cardinals have not in recent years, Tampa Bay, Giants, Pirates, etc have all gone for lower tier moves really.
Just because you don't go for the big name player doesn't mean you couldn't use the big name player. Like imagine how scary Cardinals could be if they could trot out Cueto, Matinez, Lynn, Lackey, wacha right now while Garcia continues to come back. Then move Martinez or wacha to the bullpen to keep their innings in check.

do you know what arbitrary means? Or do you now just understand the rule?

for him to qualify for an ERA title, he'll have to pitch in at least 162 innings.

for him, right now, to qualify for the league leaders in ERA, he has to have thrown 96 IP.

technically, those are the facts.
