You could be right on the money. Just after watching the past 9 years since the World Series appearance just with awful they had been, a part of me just really hoped to see him turn it back around and right the ship for good because he is still so young. We have seen players like Wandy and Bud Norris go through similar bumps early in career and by time left Stros were very reliable.

A's and Tigers would be my guess, but you never know with the Angels still there, which could put the A's in the one game wild card.

I hate that crap. if the a's did all of this to have 1 GD playoff game, I will go into deep winter depression no matter how Auburn does..

wait a minute- no I won't- if we win it all I'll be ecstatic

Tigers and Dodgers. If Cards would have gotten Price, I would have said them. After seeing the package Tampa got for Price, the Cards should have been able to land him w/o Tavares.

You have to wonder what the hell the Rays were thinking. No reason at all to make this deal today.

1) They are still in contention and are the hottest team in baseball.

2) Still have Price signed until end of next season.

3) Got a horrible deal.

It'd be beyond awesome to see the Rays players make a little "statement" in their game against the Angels tomorrow night.

I am little shocked that 1.5 years of Price was only able to net Smyly, Franklin, and that Adames kid. I figured that Price would land Tijuan, Tavares, etc.

Yeah Rays sold a little low....

wonder if no one was biting and that was the best deal they could get as deadline neared so they panicked.... now teams are kicking themselves because they could have offered better

Really seems Cubs got the best haul for what they traded...

He better be good.

I've come around a bit on the trade. All these guys are locked in for a while. Smyly can be a mid rotation guy. Franklin is only 23 and he's hit well in the minors. If he can carry some of that over to the major league club, he'll be solid. Adames is 18 in single A and he's putting up some good numbers.

I don't think we would've gotten this much in the offseason. I think people are overreacting a bit.

Yeah, why not wait until the offseason if you are not getting a stud offer for Price? At that "Price", maybe I wish the Cubs made an offer.

The Cubs crushed the deadline.

The weirdest deal was the A's giving up Milone for a guy they already DFA'ed.

I agree on that... I think Milone for a 36 year old Byrd made a ton of sense for both teams if the A's would have been ok with his 8m option for next year.... Phillies would have gotten a young pitcher they could control for a few years

Some crazy trades today. I can't believe that's all the Rays got for Price.

Does this make Chris Archer the ace in Tampa now?

Fuld didn't quite fit in at the end of Spring Training with Cespedes, Crisp, Reddick, Gentry, and Moss able to play OF. With Gentry injured, Cespedes gone, and not a ton of interest in Milone, it was a logical move.

Good analysis. I'm hoping that the team bows up and says we can do this and continues to play good ball. Hoping....

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they react to this.
