The Tigers have agreed to acquire David Price from the Rays, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The deal is a three-way trade between the Tigers, Rays, and Mariners.

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at Tampa Bay Rays

Tigers center fielder Austin Jackson will go to the Mariners, with Nick Franklin (from Seattle) and Drew Smyly (from Detroit) heading to Tampa in the blockbuster. The deal involves no other players going to or from Seattle, according to a tweet from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Minor league shortstop Willy Adames is also going to Tampa in the deal, per a tweet from Rosenthal.

The Orioles have agreed to acquire Red Sox lefty Andrew Miller, per Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com (via Twitter). A minor league pitcher is coming in return, per Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com (via Twitter).

Baltimore will send left-handed pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez in return, per a tweet from Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com.

quote:

The Marlins have announced a multi-player trade with the Astros that will bring starter Jarred Cosart, shortstop Enrique Hernandez, and pitcher Francis Martes to Miami in exchange for third baseman Colin Moran, outfielder Jake Marisnick, outfielder Austin Wates, and the Marlins’ 2015 compensation pick

quote:

3:38pm: ESPN Chicago’s Jesse Rogers tweets that the Cubs are sending cash to Atlanta as well.

3:33pm: Wittenymyer tweets that a minor league catcher is headed to Chicago. Peter Gammons tweets that Chicago receives Victor Caratini from Atlanta.

3:24pm: The Braves have acquired James Russell an Emilio Bonifacio from the Cubs, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times (on Twitter).

quote:

The Yankees acquired infielder Martin Prado from the Diamondbacks, tweets Jack Curry of the YES Network. The D’Backs will receive catching prospect Peter O’Brien and a player to be named later or cash considerations and are not contributing cash to the deal, tweets MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert. The Yankees have now officially announced the deal.

quote:

3:17pm: Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com tweets that the Yankees will pay nearly all of the nearly $5MM that remains on Drew’s deal. Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that Drew will play second base for the Yankees.

2:46pm: WEEI’s Alex Speier tweets that New York is sending Kelly Johnson to Boston.

2:43pm: The Yankees are acquiring Stephen Drew from the Red Sox, reports ESPNBoston.com’s Gordon Edes (Twitter link)

quote:

2:01pm: MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian reports that the Nats have acquired Cabrera (Twitter link).

1:59pm: The Indians have traded shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, reports Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer (Twitter link). The switch-hitter’s new team has not yet been reported.

quote:

The Mariners are set to acquire Chris Denorfia from the Padres, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports (on Twitter).

quote:

The Cardinals acquired John Lackey from the Red Sox, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The Red Sox are expected to get a Major League ready outfielder and a pitcher from the Cardinals, adds Heyman. Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com first reported the Red Sox were close to a Lackey deal.
11:52am: The Red Sox are also sending a minor leaguer to the Cardinals, tweets WEEI’s Alex Speier.

11:47am: The Cardinals are sending starting pitcher Joe Kelly and right fielder/first baseman Allen Craig to Boston for Lackey, tweets Peter Gammons of MLB Network. The Red Sox continue to focus on players that can help them win in the near future, having traded Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes for Yoenis Cespedes earlier today.

quote:

The Twins have acquired lefty Tommy Milone from the A’s, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link).
10:01am: Sam Fuld is heading back to the A’s in the trade, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN (on Twitter). Interestingly, the Twins claimed Fuld off waivers from Oakland earlier this year when he was designated for assignment. Presumably, he can form some form of platoon with the newly acquired Jonny Gomes in order to fill in for the now-departed Yoenis Cespedes.

quote:

The Athletics have acquired Jon Lester from the Red Sox, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com (Twitter links). In what will be a blockbuster deal, Jonny Gomes and Yoenis Cespedes will head to Boston.

quote:

The Cubs have acquired Felix Doubront from the Red Sox, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Jon Morosi of FOX Sports first reported (on Twitter) that a deal was close.

The Red Sox will receive a player to be named later in return for the 25-year-old lefty, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com reports on Twitter.

quote:

The Indians and Cardinals have agreed to a deal that will send Justin Masterson to St. Louis, Peter Gammons reports (on Twitter). Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that top outfield prospect James Ramsey is headed to Cleveland (Twitter link).

quote:

UPDATE: The deal is now official. Alex Speier of WEEI.com reports that the Red Sox will pick up just over half of the roughly $5 million remaining on Peavy’s contract for this season. That explains why they got something of quality in return.
12:01 p.m. ET: ESPN’s Buster Olney reports that the Red Sox will receive prospect pitchers Edwin Escobar and Heath Hembree in return. Both are pretty legit prospects, but it helps that the Red Sox are apparently sending some money to the Giants in the deal.

.

quote:

The Yankees announced this evening that they have acquired veteran left-hander Chris Capuano from the Rockies for cash considerations.

quote:

Kendrys Morales had a good first week for the Twins after sitting out the first two months of the season and then signing a one-year, $7.5 million deal in June, but he’s been horrendous since then while hitting .209 with one homer and a .524 OPS in 33 games.

Today the Twins cut bait on the Morales move and surprisingly they not only found a taker for him they traded the 31-year-old designated hitter to the Mariners for a potentially useful 24-year-old reliever in Stephen Pryor.

quote:

Ernesto Friero for Jason Grilli and have also used longtime setup man Joe Smith in the closer role.

quote:

Huston Street to Angels for
It was a six-player deal in all, with the Padres getting second baseman Taylor Lindsey, shortstop Jose Rondon, reliever R.J. Alvarez and right-hander Elliot Morris from the Angels for Street and right-hander Trevor Gott.

ESPN’s Jim Bowden was the first to report the deal, with the Los Angeles Times’ Mike DiGiovanna and FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal filling in the particulars.

quote:

The Yankees have acquired Chase Headley from the Yankees, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (Twitter links). The Yankees will send Yangervis Solarte and minor league right-hander Rafael De Paula to the Padres in return for Headley and $1MM.

quote:

Kyle Bogenschutz of Scout.com and Detroit’s 97.1 The Ticket reports that the Tigers have acquired reliever Joakim Soria from the Rangers in exchange for pitching prospects Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel. FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi says the deal is only pending the three physical exams.

News:
-Veteran backstop Yorvit Torrealba has requested and been given his release from the Cubs
-The Angels have signed hurler Chris Volstad to a minor league deal
-The Yankees have signed left-hander Rich Hill to a minor league deal

either a #2 starter or stanton

but if i was cards, i'd go for Ozuna. Marlins have some depth, and kid is young, has some pop, good defensively in CF, and is cheap till 2019. And won't cost u the prospects that Stanton would.

McCann won't DH next year with Beltran/Tex on roster.... He may get a start or two at DH but he will not be the full time DH. Sanchez will be in minors next year again with Cervelli as back up

Trade Wong with someone else including OT and that's probably not an awful deal.

Stanton is that electrifying player the Cards haven't had since losing Pujols

Miller hasn't shown much improvement over his season last year that saw him left out of the playoff rotation. Martinez has potential, but could go either way at this point. OT may or may not develop into the big league sensation that everyone is hoping for.

The prospects going to San Diego are Taylor Lindsey, Jose Rendon, R.J. Alvarez, and one other minor leaguer. They are ranked second, fifth, and sixth respectively in the Top 20 prospects in Angels farm system. LAA will also reportedly receive a Double A pitcher.

Where does the angles farm system rank, out of curiosity. I'm assuming none are in the top 100?

Not sure where he fell in the mid season top 100, but Lindsey was at the bottom of the top 100 in the preseason.

I'm not sure what was wrong with Joe Smith.
