Nah He said its very political. Don't go to camps and you will not be rated high by the services.
That's like calling the ACT or SATs political
It's hard judging a kid on film, they are much easier to rank in a controlled environment with all high level prospects. You want to get your name out there, go to camps.
Now if you want to argue that the services change your rankings due to being committed or who you are committed too, that I can agree with, but the camps aren't the issue

The recruiting rankings don't matter people are the dumbest on the Internet and legitimately make me angry.
That's like saying having a good QB doesn't matter because Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, they don't. They're merely projections and predictions. You could get a 5* like Ryan Perrilloux or a 3* like Johnny Manziel.
In the context of Golic's kid, he got an offer to the school he wanted to go to, and committed and went to that school. At that point, what difference does it make how many stars he got.

Yeah that's what I' don't understand either. The anecdote would be interesting (maybe) if golics kid was good and showed he was way better than a 2 star. Instead, it just looks like it was the right call.

Agreed. The whole purpose (presumably) of getting a higher star rating is to open up your options and getting your name out there.
If you get an offer early to the school you want and commit early, what difference does it make?

What were you searching Mike & Mike on Google or something to pull this thread up?

Well, to prove once again just how out of touch Greenie really is ( and remember he's all for NCAA players forming a union )he went on another rant this morning bout Louisville not honoring a scholly to a player, pulling it with 48 hrs left to NSD. While that did suck, that close, and Petrino is now banned from that school, Greenie's point was that an offer should be honored or else what's the point of making a offer. Golic tried to educate him by telling him that players do the same thing all the time, backing out of a commitment at the last minute but Greenie just kept slamming the "system", yet offered no new system as Golic kept demanding he do. Rather laughable in a sad way, that one with this many yrs of being in sports is this ignorant about college sports.

, I flip between ESPN, local Dallas radio, and NPR world news. When the other two are on commercial I listen to M&M
NPR doesn't have commercials.

I think that football should have an early signing period. If you are that certain during August of your Sr year, you should sign.
There is risk reward for both parties. Risk for the school is of course injury and possible grades, but the reward is you know you have kid signed and do not need to spend time with him. The risk for the kid is coaching changes and the reward is getting the process over early and focusing on school/football without being pestered by coaches.
So the value of stars after camps is minimalized by some in this scenario.
