UL and ULM are the two lowest budgets in the Sun Belt for the same reason. If both programs implemented a $10/credit hour fee capped at 12 hours per semester then both would be middle to upper half of the Sun Belt.

To be fair McNeese was Div 1 until 1984 and was a conference opponent with USL, Tech, etc.

And? They have always been "smaller". It's still being dominated.

You want the record from 84 on? It's not any prettier.

I'm an LSU fan first. But ULL won't use the same arguements about size when it comes to ULL vs LSU, as they will when it comes to ULL vs McNeese.

I'm extremely disappointed in ULL football. It should be a powerhouse that gets LA kids to stay who can't get in LSU.

Truth is, in football especially, ULL has been dominated by LA Tech, Mcneese, LSU in recent history.

Somebody said there's no reason for ULL to schedule this game. bullshite! They absolutely have to have a game that can sell out there home field. They need the money. Need proof? Check out the fiasco of the baseball field upgrade.

Positive for BOTH schools

Starting in 1971, Mcneese has dominated the series 13-3-1 Sorry man, but that is domination by a "small" school. It's not even close. FYI, I'm from Laffy and wish this wasn't fact. But it is.

Right, but you said they have beaten them every time since the 70s and that is not correct. And even so, I was originally talking about how McNeese fans have been bragging about the recent win since 07.

I mean, congrats on whoopin our arse 9 years ago. But if it were the other way around and the Cajuns crushed McNeese, I just don't care enough about McNeese to brag for that long about beating them.

This is one of those cases where being a big fish in a little pond is a good thing. By moving up to the FBS, there is little chance in McNeese ever playing for a National Title. Not only that, but their travel would increase tremendously. Not only is it a bad move, but a financially unstable one as well.

Some will argue that drawing home games against the likes of ULL, ULM, Arkansas State, and New Mexico State would move the needle and get more people in the stands. The issue for McNeese in getting asses in seats is not the opponent. The issue has been, since 2001, the success of LSU and lack of post season success by McNeese. How any of our fans think New Mexico frickin State would move the needle is beyond me. Especially when ULL is pretty much sick and tired of the Sun Belt.

I've always been pro-FCS. We will never be on the level of LSU, so why move up to the FBS? I feel like we could, much easier, be like the Bison up there in Fargo, than we could the Tigers in Baton Rouge.

The biggest fear is that if it does pass then the ULS will reduce the amount of general fund transfer by the amount generated by student fees, negating the fee's effectiveness at increasing the budget. But since no university has actually passed an athletic student fee know one knows for sure.

But that's exactly what should happen...use student fees instead of the general fund transfer.
It a)stabilizes your revenue and b)takes the taxpayers out of the direct loop of athletics funding.
You can't do both- that's ridiculous. Raise your own money.

UL already has stopped using state tax payer money for athletics. It's one of only 25ish programs in the country who doesn't use state tax dollars. So I guess you are saying that the other 300 division one universities in the country are wrong too?

Of course you take taxpayer dollars. The general fund transfer comes from the taxpayers and from tuition. You use taxpayer money.

What the other 300 division 1 teams use are student fees, not general fund transfers. That's what the La teams should.
It would help the Cajuns...you have the student body numbers.

UL transfers ZERO dollars from the General Fund. In fact it is a huge complaint among Cajun fans.

WTF are you going on about? Nobody gives a shite about ULL's budget. They could have LSU's budget and they still wouldn't be anymore than a Sun Belt team. Facilities go a long way, but if your competition is crap, the best players aren't going there. That's why the best play in the SEC, B1G, BIG XII, PAC-12, and ACC.

You think Boise (you know, that team thats about to donkey stomp the peppers) and TCU were BCS busters because of super fly facilities? No. Its because they busted arse.

Quit talking about stupid BUDGETS and talk about FOOTBALL!! Bunch of damn financial nerds in here or something.

You don't understand how this works.

Budgets (and media markets) have a major impact on which conference schools are in. Wins & losses have very little to do with it

Well then, I guess ULL is never going anywhere with their budget and...well, they have no media market...
