Can you guys tell me a bit about James Tabary from Arkansas St.? He transferred to McNeese over the summer and was named the starting QB over a pretty talented kid that's been here for 4 years.

I saw he was dismissed for violating team rules @ Arky St. From what I've gathered, he ran Harsin's offense before he left for Boise St. and didn't fit with this new coach's system?

Just trying to gather some more information on the kid. Looks like he has experience vs. ULL. So I guess ULL will have an excuse when McNeese goes in and beats them in their home. AGAIN.

I don't believe he ever played under Harsin, since last year was his first year playing at Ark St. His statline was alright in the 7 games he played in...threw more picks than TDs. From what I understand, the reason was never disclosed as to why he was dismissed. I'm sure Coach Guidry knows the reason, but it is a bit concerning, as it doesn't sound like a simple team rules issue. There are no other suspensions that I can find, so that tells me it was serious enough that a one time incident led to his dismissal.

Does McNeese have enough coming back to pull it off?

Biggest question is probably QB or LB. Replacing Wallace Scott at S is another one.

But, I think we have enough. Besides, didn't ULL go 4-8 last year. Everything I hear is predicting a 6-6 year for them, and that could easily go 5-7 (we all know those folks are predicting a W against McNeese).

Kind of feel for Ashcraft, but I want to win. Saw that clip of him on KPLC and it looks like he can sling it.

I think we have plenty to beat UL Lafayette, and I'm very excited about thw future of the program under Guidry. Hoping we don't turn into Thug U, but we should have some well coached, talented teams.

I worry about the DL. Good thing Golden came back. McNeese's best DB (Dominique Hill) is suspended indefinitely so that sucks. Kid can play in the NFL, IMO. Hopefully, he can make up for whatever he did and is able to come back this year at some point.

Here's a notebook for some of you guys if you missed it.....

Now that sucks. Losing Hill is definitely a hit we don't need.

There are a lot of question marks at ULL this year. The QB, Oline and Dline situations there were pretty atrocious last year. Jennings is actually a big step up and will help with the issue they had last year. That was having the previous sunbelt player of the year (RB Elijah McGuire) as your only offensive weapon of note. Teams loaded the box to stop him (sound familiar). McGuire is good but he's no Fournette, or Guice, or even Darrel Williams for that matter.

I don't think reasonable people are. It could happen but just as easily could go the other way, I think both teams have more unknowns than anyone likes at this point.

We'll learn a lot about ULL by how they in the Boise State loss, er, game.

Well the media isn't reasonable in Laffy then.

I don't understand the hoopla over Jennings. Dave Schultz keeps talking about this guy like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. "ULL has an SEC Quarterback" is what he keeps saying. No, ULL has a Sunbelt QB. If he were an SEC QB, he'd be playing in the SEC. There is a reason he is not.

Nothing against Jennings, and I hope he does do well because he seems like a good kid that has his act together. But man, the dillusion surrounding him is unreal. It's not like he was a gunslinger at LSU; his numbers were pedestrian at best.

Now, our QBs are largely unproven as well, so it will be interesting to see what they can do. But, just like ULL, they have a hell of a supporting cast around them. Even if some "sports radio hosts" think none of them could play FBS football.

That's like comparing Jerome Bettis to Darren Sproles.

Can't help it that ULL didn't want to schedule McNeese.

Kind of my point, I guess. He's a smaller guy and probably not as fast (I only say probably because I have no idea about his relative speed) as Fournette or Guice. So a stacked box for him is almost always a loss, whereas the LSU guys would likely get positive yards against the Sunbelt defenders much of the time.

Not my problem ULL fans think they're above McNeese in football. Or any sport, for that matter. (Except baseball recently).

This game is a huge rivalry game for us. It's a good time and it breaks ULL attendance records. ULL makes a killing off of this game and could schedule this game every other year or so, but refuses to do it. If they were that confident in beating McNeese on a regular basis, they'd schedule more often.

Didn't ULL just expand? Are we going to break the attendance record again for ULL?

Most of the guys I listen too have been cautious about their predictions for the exact reasons I've stated. They are positive in their presentations, though, but that is to be expected, IMO.

The guys whose opinions I respect are all saying that they will have to adjust their predictions once they see the Cajuns in real game situations.

Again, I haven't seen the delusional thinking regarding Jennings. Only that he is an upgrade from the QB situation of last year.

I'm a KPEL guy, so I am unfamiliar with Dave Schultz.

In all fairness, he did start for a top SEC school. He was also recruited by other SEC schools as well as other top schools (he had offers from Miss St. and UK in the SEC as well as teams like Nebraska and Oregon). So I guess he should amend his statements to say a former SEC quarterback?

I was going to ask "how so?" but I get that's your trolling posts, which falls flat...

But honestly, ULL fans are legit insecure.

"Why are we scheduling McNeese?"
"This is an easy win."
"We gain nothing by playing McNeese"
"McNeese has no chance."

We all know the truth.

Other than playing in that powerhouse Sun Belt, I'm not sure there's much of a difference between the two programs. Oh, there's a difference in a letter.

FBS. FCS.
