What if it is a really tough division? And the teams beat up on each other with a champ at 10 wins. They should go in the road bc some WC team had a cake walk schedule but couldn’t win their division?

frick that.

Someone or a few people said it below, schedules aren't the same. Some divisions are better/worse than others. For example, the Texans should have an easier schedule b/c they finished last in their division last year.

I don't mind it, but also wouldn't be against a change. Neither of the games you mentioned seem to not be highly contested even. But maybe they would have been if the situations were switched

The NFL strives to achieve parity within the league with their draft order process and their scheduling...Strength of Schedule is a non-factor in this discussion.

I think the current format makes the season more entertaining. I think the three division, #1 and #2 seed byes that I grew up with was more fair.

I ultimately don’t really give a frick who wins these games, so I say keep it as is.

Would have been odd to see a Superdome full of Eagles fans destroy Dennis Allen.
Maybe it would have been bad enough to be in the Head Coaching market right now.
maybe even Tweet that the Saints interviewed Bill Belichick.

I think divisions are pretty pointless. You could just have two conferences like they used to do in the NBA and MLB.

It absolutely is. Only 3 of 17 opponents are parity-driven. 14 are set in stone years in advance

- Tougher division
- Tougher NFC division draw
- Tougher AFC division draw

These can all drive a lower record divisional champ. This is why there hasn’t been any desire to change the structure

Yeah, I agree with this...I like giving division winners at least one home game.

Yes it does, some Divisions may be tougher, and you have to play each team in division twice, so you could have a worse record and be a better team.

The only legit reason to even have divisions in a 32 team league is for developing and keeping up rivalries by playing a certain amount of the same teams every year. They should have it structured like the 1982 NFL season was done during that strike year, just a AFC and NFC.

What’s the big deal about home field in the playoffs?

Didn’t help the Cowboys at all.

Why would a conference winner get automatic bud to playoff in college if not deemed the better team.

Hey man, it was 14 years ago, it's time to move on. On the bright side, the Saints will forever be remembered for being part of one of the greatest plays in playoff history:

The Saints were playing good football and would have beaten the eagles.

There weren’t going to be 50% Eagles fans in the dome - they hardly had any fans in Tampa.
