Philly should have been hosting Tampa Bay...you could say the same for the Browns vs Texans.

Do you think this will ever be addressed?

Sure, let division winners make the playoffs but seed all teams based on records...

Thoughts?

It makes plenty of sense. Win your division

Nah, I like it the way it is. Makes the division races matter even if it's just a tiny bit.

No, you should get rewarded for winning your division regardless of how shitty it was and it tends to work in some teams favor like the Green Bay Packers.

The reward for winning the division is being in the playoffs

So a division with two shitty teams and playing the easiest cross conference division should earn a team a home game?

It is meant to reward division winners because in most cases they are lower in record because of the tougher division.

Cleveland played in a division with 3 of 4 teams being in their 2nd string or worse QBs for the bulk of the season. Is that fair?

The reality is that arguments could be made both ways , but Cleveland was a game up in overall record and only because they played Houston without like 6 or 7 starters including Stroud.

that like saying in the upcoming college football playoff, the conference winners would be seeded above all other playoff teams...would that make sense to you?

Philly shouldn’t have gone 1-5 over their last 6 regular season games.

Simple

Teams should go win their division if that's a problem.

Someone tried to use not all schedules are equal earlier and that also goes both ways. That's irrelevant to me. This is the incentive to winning your division. Especially for teams like Philly.

This is the NFL. Regardless how easy the schedules look the games are mostly competitive.

Weird considering Tampa absolutely destroyed the Bucs.

Also weird considering Houston destroyed Cleveland.

The better teams won.

I hope not, because I like the way it is. Not a fan of change.

Seeding off overall record seems extremely silly to me for the NFL. The schedules are not equal, so trying to win your division in order not to travel should be the incentive and the understanding.

Winning your division has an added benefit of home field at least once. Can't win your division? Oh well

We would have more dead games on the last weekend if the NFL takes away the Division winner home game.

In 1970 the playoffs were only division winners. In 78 they added the wildcard to make it 5 teams per conf vice 4. Now its 7 per conf. Basically, in 78 they started deciding to make more money. More teams means more games means more money. But they still stick to winning div is important. These div rivalries add spice during season.

Yeah because every team at the beginning of the season wants to win their conference… that’s the first goal

Then the playoff will be big enough now that you can put in a few teams after that who didn’t

Hell high school ball lost a little something when they basically made districts meaningless

Eh, how many starters were Cleveland playing without every week? They had the worst injury luck of any good team I can think of in recent memory.

As far as the playoff format, I find it funny that people believe it makes sense for a division winner to host with a worse record, but last week, posters said the expanded CFP should have zero automatic qualifiers for conference champions.
