Espn la radio has been dickriding magic ever since he was brought on to be a consultant.
Nobody had the balls to call it out as a disaster in the making; magic has zero experience running basketball personnel. Furthermore, there's no way he would be 100% committed to the position as he dabbles in a million other ventures. Also, magic really doesn't come off as the most intelligent person, he could barely formulate any interesting thoughts as an NBA studio host for espn.

This tells me the Lakers were the team that offered a better deal for Boogie. Ingram and Clarkson + a future first is my take.

he needs to be what he is for the dodgers. a spokesperson. magic is the greatest laker and what he means to the city can not be understated, but he should stay the frick away from actually calling the shots. jesus christ

Espn la said it was Randal and russel, but kings wanted Ingram, and lakers weren't willing to give him up

I have very mixed feels on Kupchak getting the ax
I can understand given his total body of work but Kupchak has had some head scratchers these past couple of years. How the frick can you give Mozgov and Deng 4 year contracts?

Sam Amick? @sam_amick Mitch thought his relationship with Magic might save him, but Jeanie wasn't having it. Jim's reputation could only provide cover for so long

But I think Magic has vested interest with the Lakers than with The Dodgers. Watch his First Take interview. He said he's got people that can run the Dodgers while his full attention will be on the Lakers.
This is gonna be a very hands on situation

Kupchak drafted well, for the most part, especially finding good value outside the lottery.
He's been pretty bad at every other aspect of the position.

How the frick can you defend giving Mozgov and Deng 4 year contracts?
the problem with the franchise wasnt mitch. his body of work speaks for itself. its the fact that jim and jeanie were literally in an open and public war with one another that routinely undermined the credibility of the franchise

exactly. if hes going to be involved, it needs to be like the dodger situation. honestly, with the dodgers currently looking for parties to buy into minority owner stakes, i wouldnt be shocked to see magic sell his stake in the dodgers now

My only Silver Lining is that maybe Magic can attract some FA which was absolutely botched the last couple of years

My main issue with those deals was the length of the contracts. If those guys were assets you could deal later then ok but they're both over 30 in their third and fourth years.

Magic says he understands the young guys in the league right now, but I totally disagree with that
Posted on 2/21/17 at 12:48 pm to Goldrush25
yes, agreed, the length of the contracts are head scratchers. im not saying they were good signings. they werent. but i cant judge mitch on those two signings when he has been a very capable and competent GM over the past 17 years
