LaGrange (too many to mention)

whoa now. BHS didn't have most kids from mid city transfer over. it's Washington Marion/Gosport kids

and most of them in my time had been in SLC schools since at least SJ welsh, and most of them never player sports.

i mean frick there were some badass basketball players who DIDN'T play for barbe while i was there. one transferred back to washington marion to end his career b/c he didn't want to play for barbe

Get it straight. This is a PUBLIC SCHOOL PROBLEM. Private schools do what they do. That they do it so well in this state is not because the private schools are extraordinary here on cheat and recruit more than in Texas, but because THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS CAN'T GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER.

Take the high schools themselves out for a minute. Let's say LSU was only allowed to have kids from LA (attendance zones), but Alabama could get players nationwide (no attendance zone).

So, who or what is "creating" the anomaly here?

i agree

throw Barbe in there too even though we never win shite and you're basically missing 3 regions of LA: SELA, NWLA, CENLA

i don't think there is much good football in CENLA regardless

BR/Nola/Shreveport have shite public schools and lots of privates. not shocking, since they're the 3 biggest metro areas in LA

You shut your whore mouth. I played football for Barbe. Trust me there are great athletes in Lake Charles and the surrounding area that refuse to play for Barbe or transfer to schools such as WM or LaGrange

When Barbe started hitting its stride in the mid-90s, it had a BUNCH of kids who lived in the LaGrange zone. A bunch. Not so much now because as the demographic of the LaGrange district has shifted to more African-American with less baseball participation, there have been far fewer mover overs.

In the 90s, it was like the floodgates opened. Guys would start their careers at LaGrange, then transfer to Barbe.

not disagreeing, but LA vs. Rest of Country! They would "compete" well.

Deseg is gone in EBR, at least in terms of a court order.

The unincorporated parts of BR, which is pretty much anything that developed in the last 30 years since the city/parish merger, tried to get an ISD this last legislative session and got fricked over.

That was because the current EBRSB didn't want a mass exodus of students and faculty who were unwilling to put up with the kind of bullshite like we saw at the school board meetings of the past year.

They're taking what I said out of context. They think barbe's principal is mad about recruiting but in reality she doesn't care, she was just passing a message down. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Please give me one player on the Rummel football roster from this year who didn't live in the New Orleans metro area prior to going to school there.

Nice try, but public school kids get waivers all the time to play outside their district.

Ever consider that kids go to Barbe because its basically the flagship public school of Lake Charles?

Also, call me crazy, but education matters too. Barbe is a much better school to get an education from than say Washington Marion

like whom? that was before my time

our big time players back then were white guys like joe lawrence and the nagles

in my era i can't think of many mid city guys. curtis and drew were from north lake charles i believe, but i went to school with drew since 6th grade. i was friends with curtis and he didn't GAF if he played WR for BHS or WM, but he wanted to go to BHS for academics. JV was from SLC. i think pretty much everybody other than josh fontenot few up in SLC

well lagrange turned into a complete shithole in the 90s and BHS is a great public high school

plenty of kids from the area transfer to BHS and never play sports. i think BHS is close to 50/50 now and the demos of the area are like 95/5

3A isn't really the issue. It's 2A. I think the last public school to win a 2A Title was Sterlington.

Before Curtis and Evangel got sent down, it was usually Port Barre or Iota or Sterlington like you said. But since the 4-5a schools couldn't handle losing to Curtis and EVangel, they sent them down and the 2-3a schools made the decision to vote for this. It all comes back to the big schools not being able to handle losing to a private school even if there is no shady recruiting going on.
