Iowa has lost no games against, what, the 65th best schedule in the country?

Notre Dame has lost one against a top 15 schedule.

I happen to think the latter is better.

What is the baseline for SOS? I'm real curious, because nobody seems able to articulate this.

Notre Dame hasn't played much of anybody outside of Clemson. Their top wins are against teams that don't play in power conferences. Temple is okay, but let's not act like temple would win 9 games playing in a real league. Same with Navy. USC just got piss pounded by a three loss Oregon team. Stanford is their best bet for a marquee win, and they lost to the Big Ten West runner up.

Pfft, Iowa would likely be 11-0 against Alabama's schedule too. They don't turn the ball over five times in a game.

Please win out so you'll be this year's Florida State and get beat by 40 in the playoffs.

Michigan State is basically seen as having 2 losses with the Michigan miracle.

You could also say they are seen as having 0 losses considering the "Michigan miracle" was a completely legit play made by players on the field in regulation whereas the Nebraska hose-job was a misapplied or just flat out bad rule on a closing seconds review.

That's an incredibly unrealistic fear

Iowa is a 1 point favorite over a garbage Nebraska team. That says it all.

If you are in a P5 conference, you deserve respect for being undefeated....even the ACC and their garbage.

I appreciate rewarding good wins, but not at the cost of hurting undefeated teams. "Good Loss" or "Freak Loss" are the stupidest statements I've ever heard.

Even if it was, it still happened. They LOST. As in LOSERS. Its weird that some people get hurt more than others for losing.

Anyways, yes, Iowa has played a decent schedule. Toughest? Absolutely not, but they are winning by comfortable margins in almost every one. 6 of the 11 were by double digits, including a blowout of the #16 team in the country. Pitt and Wisconsin were good close wins. Illinois and Minnesota were never in doubt, and they got scores in garbage time. They were up 15 with just over 2 minutes left against Indiana.

My Top 10 would be

1. Clemson
2. Iowa
3. Alabama
4. Oklahoma
5. Michigan State
6. Notre Dame
7. Oklahoma State
8. Ohio State
9. Baylor
10. Florida

If Florida were undefeated and everyone was saying they didn't deserve to be top four, would you not be raising hell?

Yet everyone wants MSU to be over Iowa. Who did they lose to again....oh yeah Nebraska.

Depending on how they "hypothetically" would've beaten LSU.

And without Grier, UF is a different team, so no.

Now, if we somehow (with a miracle) beat both FSU AND Alabama in these next 2 weeks, and get left out?

Yeah, then I would be pissed.

Im struggling to figure out Oklahoma is ranked above Michigan St

...what criteria are they looking at?

They have better wins (two top ten wins), a better loss, and higher SOS

it just doesnt make sense

While a win is a win, I think they also look at that game against Michigan and put little to no weight on it because of how they won. That being said, they went on the road and beat a top 4 team with a back up QB (I believe). I'd be ok with them being ranked ahead of Iowa.

I'm skeptical of the Iowa ranking. Undefeated yes, but look at that schedule
LSU looked credible as a top 4 team until they started playing decent opponents. Iowa just hasn't had to play anyone decent.

look at that schedule

Two 25 (NOW) ranked wins.
Three wins vs 8+ win teams
3 more against teams who could become bowl eligible this week....so potentially 6 bowl eligible teams.
2 OOC P5 wins

That is pretty decent.

For the record, Clemson has 1 top 25 win, and only 1 win over 8+ win team. Alabama has 2 top 25 wins, and 4 over 8+ win teams. Oklahoma has 2 top 25 wins, and 2 over 8+ win teams. Notre dame has 2 top 25 and 4 over 8+ win teams.
