the select-nonselect task force recently met under the direction of new executive director Eddie Bonine, and everyone in the room had rave reviews about his performance and promises to fairly enforce the LHSAA rules

it got some to thinking the split could be ended eventually...

to that i say no bueno. the average school with the average team pushed for the split and has most benefitted by it. whether it means as much as it used to, new schools are going to the Dome, in select and nonselect.

but if the task force is serious about ending the split, talk won't get it done. it will take politicking, and maybe even horse trading or dirty dealing

i think it will take two new classifications, so we have 7 32 team brackets. that way you have about the same number of playoff teams as you've had the last two years, as well as less of a chance to have to play John Curtis or Calvary Baptist in the playoffs

because do you REALLY think we're going back to 5 classifications? it's all about playoff football and money.

principals for the split need some kind of incentive to repeal it when it comes up

We need to get rid of all the "fairness" people who couldn't win before

Only the private schools, or do the public schools have to stop too?

define "recruiting"

because you have "recruiting" and not needing to "recruit"

Winfield was like 1-9 this past season... now they still made the playoffs in 2a (and made a quarterfinal run), but that championship is probably a few years away...

Not going to end. Private schools are getting comfortable with it. Great PS playoffs last year.
Private schools are the ones who were vanquished and the ones hurt the least.

Or not allow these new "Jesus Football Bobby Jindal Voucher Academies" to compete under the facade of "Christian Schools."

And yes, I know that not all private schools do this.

what a joke. Their principal is a joke too. They were one of the main ones pushing for the split

They were 1-9 in the regular season because they played a brutal schedule. They had the #1 strength of schedule in 2A. They were much better than their record and what they did in the playoffs proved that. They won their first round game against a district runner up and nearly won their second round game.

I say go the opposite direction. Open it up for everyone. You can go to any school, but you must stick with who you attend your freshman year. If you move you're ineligible for a year for Athletics.
