Same way a pitcher will throw it 4 inches off the plate as long as ump calls it a strike. Acadiana does what they are allowed to do as Supatigah pointed out.

well yeah you always go on motion... sounds like the Wave got a little anxious

here's my thing. JJ27 your analogy of the consistent pitcher getting more and more strikes is spot on. If Acadiana is getting set, then getting 4-5 yards or more every run, the refs see that they're getting into a groove, and they'll let them get more and more of a "rolling start"

Im curious to know what would happen if a random team tried it for a random play during the game.
My guess is they would get penalized for false start

I guess every school has their dirty laundry. Some schools might allegadly get away without coming completely set from time to time while others force children to repeat a year of school for the sake of wining high school football games. To each his own I suppose.

They don't. Not unless it's a hard count. Otherwise they're rolling

is that like a loophole where they can say they're not technically holding back?

He was talking about West Monroe, the team blamed for the holdback rule. OCS actually started the practice and had an actual program named 8 plus. You'll never hear anyone talk about them though.

Before he says it, yes there are still kids throughout the state that holdback. They just do it before 6th grade now.

Curtis has run the veer longer than anyone in la....and they have never done the rolling start...

Ocs didnt start the hold back system. A school in the 60s brout it to another level. And. A rule was changed then too by the same schools that ushered in the new hold back rule...and a few other notable/infamous rules

As for the set for 1 second. Define set as by the rule......

And despite how they lined up..I would consider the wm scheme under shows to be more veer based counter dives, traps and leads just with the halfback way way back there..

The blocking schemes on options were near identical

But so are most running plays out of zone read spread...

And. When they do the rolling start it does narrow down the plays which they may or may not be running - the big question is how quickly the kids on defense can reqd and react to it.. If the opposing coaches have picked up on it.. Some notable ram defeats have come in league part to this

I have been corrected tha t at least two veer teams I was associated with did a simiar thing when they ran one of two plays specifically going off of a motion and touch - silent count

If it were tha effective more people would do it

probably could have force fed him more. But he was pretty ineffective outside a few dump offs on that last drive.

Did he ever have a great game vs a catholic league team?

Losing to better teams is not choking

He had over 150 all purpose yards and 2 TDs against brother martin

It may have been over 200 yards actually
