Alonso's replacement, Preston Brown, led the team in tackles last season as a rookie, too. I imagine he makes Alonso somewhat expendable

This is a Belichick move minus the extra draft pick..which makes it a perplexing move.

Yea they will address that next season.

And Jerry Hughes has had 2 very strong seasons for Buffalo... But there's no doubt that he benefitted from playing next to Dareus, Kyle Williams, and Mario Williams. Kyle Williams has 2 years left on his contract and Mario Williams has like 4 or 5 years left.

Eagles also have plenty of cap space. Could try to steal Murray from the Cowboys.

Bills get a game changing running back in the prime of his career. Mychal Kendricks and Kiko Alonso will be flying around making plays for years in Philly. Great trade for both teams.

Smart move on Rex's part.

McCoy has mild tread/wear, is 26, and instant stability at the RB position for Buffalo since Spiller/Jackson are injury prone/old.

For a guy that can't draft offensive talent to save his life, Rex made sure to get another offensive talent on his team (outside of Watkins).

Now all they need to hunt for is a QB.

That defense was 4th in YPG, 4th in PPG, 11th in run YPG, 3rd in pass YPG, 1st in sacks, and 6th in INTs last year without Kiko Alonso.

NFL defensive rookie of the year in 2013... Tore his ACL in preseason camp and missed all of the 2014 season. Played for Chip Kelly at Oregon.

The stretch of like the first 6 or 7 games for him as a rookie was insane. Dude is really fun to watch when he is on his game.

McCoy actually has more career touches than Fjax. And only has a slight advantage in YPC at 4.6 to 4.4.

I'm not trying to say FJax is as talented an RB as McCoy, but he's more than serviceable with less wear and way cheaper, especially if paired with a FA or rookie RB this off-season.

This trade make the article by Phil Sheridan is morning a little more interesting-

quote:

If the Eagles can’t – or won’t – keep running back LeSean McCoy at his 2015 salary cap number then it begs the question: Why did Eagles owner Jeff Lurie keep Howie Roseman in charge of the cap and contract negotiations?

Roseman was the general manager in 2012, when the Eagles agreed to a new five-year, $45-million contract with McCoy. The deal included a signing bonus of $8.5 million and a total of $20 million guaranteed. The last of that guaranteed money is $1 million of McCoy’s 2015 salary of $9.75 million.

LeSean McCoy is due a lot of money for 2015, but he has shown over the past two seasons that he deserves it.
That salary and McCoy’s cap number of $11.95 million have led to much speculation about whether McCoy is at risk to be released this month.

quote:

“I think he values the quarterback position on his offense (the most),” Herremans said. “I think so. Well, the quarterback and the offensive line. Other than that, I think that he feels like he can kind of -- you know, the system will take care of it."

The Eagles have no pressing salary cap issues, no tangible reason they should do anything except pay McCoy the money they themselves agreed to pay him in 2015. Certainly, if restructuring so that he gets money in the form of a bonus will help the team’s cap flexibility, that’s no problem. But if the Eagles should find themselves tempted to part ways with McCoy because of his contract, they probably should feel the same about the guy who gave him that contract.

Is the reporter that good at reading tea leaves or or did team Kelly tip him off in exchange for a hit piece on Roseman
