Looks like Vingegaard will be at the Velta. They are going to have a pretty good field. I’m down with a thread if you’re up to it.

I really like the British Eurosport coverage of the tour. At the end of the stage yesterday they had different cyclist ride onto their set at the finish line and do 3 or 4 minute interviews. They had Thibaut Pinot, Matej Mohoric, Peter Sagan and a few others. It was a really nice way to end their coverage.
Now the girl's outfit can only be explained by the fact she is English.

Article on Jumbo's prep for the TT

Jumbo treated this year's TT like an engineering project while it seems UAE takes a less analytical approach and more a just ride fast approach. After reading that and seeing Jonas was 5% better on the day than what was planned the TT result is not surprising. Additionally, Jonas is an elite time trialists from a CDA perspective and has a highly tuned setup. And for those of you who do ride, Jonas was on a chainless day. We all get them and he just got his on one of the most important days of his life.

Didn't he do that last year too? Or am I remembering wrong

Sort of, he pretended to attack with Wout and it sort of surprised Jonas. Was pretty sure it was all in fun though.

Huge crash today involving Jonas, Primoz, and Remco. Jonas was injured badly and looks like he could miss TDF. Remco looks like he broke his collarbone at a minimum and Primoz appears to be okay, just bruised and battered. Tadej now in the drivers seat for the Tour.

I saw it in real time and it was horrific. The peloton is lucky they didn’t lose a member today. Word is that tree roots made the outside of that corner “rippling”.

Remco was a few feet from sending it head first into a tree. I think Jonas is messed up bad.

Yea this really sucks. First Wout crashing made RvR a forgone conclusion and likely Roubaix as well and now this. Been a real shitty couple of weeks.

Broken collarbone and ribs from Jonas but nothing else . Basically the best case scenario

To ask, and I know somewhat off topic...

What would you consider the most difficult climbs in the 3 majors?

Alpe D'Huez gets the love, but shouldn't Ventoux be that one?

I have no clue about the other 2 though.

Also, is a climb in the US that could live up to one of the grand passes or stages?

cyclingnews.com is saying broken collarbone and ribs for Jonas, broken collarbone and scapula for Remco and vertebral fractures for Jay Vine.
Yikes.
Depending how bad they are could impact both prep and participation for tour. With their injuries I could understand Remco and Vine both missing tour. And Remco is out for LBL where he is double returning champ. They can just hand that one to Pog now.

Angliru (tour of Spain) is probably the hardest climb in procycling. 13 KM at 10% avg with pitches above 20%. I think you could also argue Zoncolan or the Stelvio for the tour of Italy. Thing to remember about the alps most of those climbs are very draft able and pretty steady grade between 4-7%.
As far as the US there are many climbs that surpass the famous climbs of the Tour. We have a lot of high altitude climbs in the US that start higher than a lot of these climbs end and are longer, steeper etc
