Lamarcus Aldridge is leaving Portland. Do you offer the #2 pick plus salaries for LA sign and trade?

does if change your mind if rondo is on board for cheap?

Kobe LA Rondo and Randle

Why sign and trade when they can just sign him and keep the #2 pick?

I'm dead serious, I don't get the NBA salary cap at all.

If his contract is up why would you do a sign and trade?

Because via sign and trade you can offer him "hometown" discount. extra year and way more money.

frick that. Aldridge is about to turn 30. If they trade the #2 pick so they can sign him to a max deal for an extra year I'll melt.

At least Rondo would have a jump on Byron's ban on 3s.

I was wondering that. But he's an all NBA talent now. Kobe has a window left. Also if you have LA you can still go after Durant Westbrook in a year after Kobe comes off/the cap goes up

Gotcha. I wouldn't trade #2 unless I had to. Kobe is gone soon and they need young talent to entice other elite FA's over with the future in mind. No idea what Kobe is capable of at this point and he makes so much money.

Aldridge would have to agree to that sign and trade. cant see that. there are better options if he doesnt stay with portland

I'm over the Kobe era. I don't want Rondo anywhere near LA either. I'll gladly take Aldridge but not for the #2 pick. I just think if you sign him to a max deal you probably get 2 maybe 3 years of good returns and then he becomes a 15 and 8 kind of player.

If it's me picking I'm taking either Russell or Mudiay but I would be more than happy with either big man too.

Kobe has a window left to be a really effective scorer, but he's not leading a team to a championship next season. LA and Rondo don't push the Lakers top of the West.

Lakers will do the smart thing by taking Okafor/Towns, then make their FA push in 2016.

I was gonna say making Jim Buss disappear should be the first move.

Aldridge will likely not be signing a long term deal because of the big jump in the salary cap in 2016. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to one of the Texas teams on a 2 year deal, then sign a mega contract after that.

Kobe isn't taking a backseat. He's not capable.

20-23ppg, >40% shooting

And I'm just saying there's a window to be that player, not that he will be. He averaged 27/6/6 on 46% FG in 2013, so it's really an issue of staying healthy.
