re: Kyrie Irving is on First Take talking about his decision to leave Cleveland

That interview was simply surreal, I think he requested First Take to generate more controversy and imply more things that people will attempt to infer or never contemplated prior and really render him more an enigma than he already is. It apparently worked because he remains the biggest narrative for the ensuing NBA season and everyone's opining on the interview. Except for Kobe, MJ, LeBron, maybe Tim Duncan etc, not many players in NBA history expound on topics/narratives in this manner. Then again, he is a flat-earther lol.

Durant just gave the truth yesterday under his other twitter account.
Didn't like playing for Donovan
Didnt like the organization
Didn't like the roster

Kyrie is a slightly more sound Gilbert Arenas.
How anyone can watch this man play and want him to LEAD your organization is beyond me.
He just got implanted into an almost perfect situation to come out of this saga looking fantastic...and I bet he STILL fricks it up.

Just watched the interview. Dude was dodging those questions like a politician.

From all accounts, Kyrie seems like a legitimately good guy whereas Arenas was a piece of shite who pulled a gun on a teammate in the locker room over a goddamn poker game.

Irving is arguably the best PG in the game.
Ummm no. Hell no.

Just laid them on a towel in front of his locker right? Or was that the other guy

All I'll say is, it's not a 100% lock that he's better than Gordon Hayward.

Kyrie is butt hurt that Lebron said he wanted to bring in Chris Paul and trade Kyrie after they won the title in 2016. But Kyrie would never admit that because it makes him look like a petty bitch.

Maybe Kyrie will make a major improvement, but it's not laughable to question whether Hayward is better.

Kyrie acted according to his assessment of the NBA and Cavaliers landscape relative to the long run with LeBron about to be in a contract year, the current tenuous Cavaliers cap and personnel situation due to their prior transactions, the possible dismantling of that Cavaliers nucleus due to many players aging and other relevant factors, the desire to be the alpha on a good team like Kobe a decade earlier, and, quite plausibly, the prospect of gaining a max contract in 2 years like the other current elite PGs on a franchise that appears to currently possess that capability now that Isaiah's on the Cavs. As long as LeBron's in the East, they won't advance past his team just the reasonable expectations for the Celts now are East Finals, Finals or bust considering what they conceded to consummate that trade. Should be fascinating.

Hell yeah. That bitch should have been happy that Lebron let him ride on the plane.

You can laugh, you're still wrong.

People sleep on Hayward because no one watched him play in Utah. He's gonna be a megastar in Boston. His game doesn't have any holes and he just got put with a top 3 coach who he already has a great relationship with.

Think Kyrie came off poorly in that interview. How do you request to go on FT and then dodge questions?

Bomani Jones was right when he said that Irving thinks that he is Kobe. When he isn't. Also, I enjoyed Will Cain going in on him.

As in he doesn't attempt to shoot his way out of trouble or a putrid performance like Kobe did and Westbrook currently does? So far, he satisfies the Kobe comparison at this point in his career and hell he even consults Kobe about career moves and openly considers him his favorite NBA player.

Does he really need to say it. Irving doesn't want to be #2 at all, and he doesn't want to be #1 in Cleveland even after Lebron leaves. Irving got a best case scenario when and where he landed.
It seems as if he wanted to get ahead with his career decisions and he beat LBJ to the punch. He did not want tp let Lebron dictate his future by leaving him stuck in Cleveland.
