Looking back at their careers...who would you take to start a franchise? I wouldn't have hesitated to say Kobe a few years ago but I'm not so sure anymore. LINK

Duncan. Has no problem sharing the spotlight.

Duncan is a legend. A rock to build your team around, and a team player.

Kobe is great player, but does not have an ounce of leadership.

Honestly.. Flip a coin. Gun to my head.... Duncan... because of his most recent championship.

Eta: just read the article, didn't know he also said "gun to my head"

This is so easy

Duncan all the way. He is one of the best bigs ever, is so loyal he'll take less to keep his team together, and he doesn't cause controversy by being a dickhead to his teammates.

Best at his position ever, great team leader, doesn't mind sharing the spotlight, takes coaching very well, not a diva, incredible longevity, etc.

There aren't many players I'd rather start a team around than Duncan.

I think that works both ways... especially earlier in Duncan's career. I'd say maybe in Duncan's favor early on.

But anyways... Duncan.
