A big man can absolutely carry a team. And Duncan is the perfect team player to build around. He won't run any of my stars out of town. Easily Timmy here.

Duncan

I won't sound very humble here, but I've been saying Duncan over Kobe for years now, and 5 years ago, this thread was overwhelmingly in favor of Kobe, but now the tune changed.

I think a good part of it has to do with the advaancement of a lot of the metrics and understanding of efficiency. I've also been saying for years and years that Kobe isn't top 10 of all time and would just get crushed for doing so, and as time goes on, I'm seeing more and more people with that same thought.

Go me!!!

Yes. I don't think a player like Kobe will ever exist again. It's a shame that the midrange jumper is completely getting removed from the game. I'm actually not sure I completely agree with the metrics that say not to take midrange jumpers either. It opens up other shots, and if you can make a wide open one every time, the defense has to guard it. LaMarcus Aldridge is the last young NBA player with an efficient midrange jumper.

Well.. Kobe is still top 10 all time. And the answer isn't "Duncan easily" or "Duncan without question." It's very close. You put their accomplishments side by side and they are very similar. Duncan being a "great team player and not running other good players off" hasn't helped him win any more rings than Kobe has.

I never have liked him, but Duncan is the best Power Forward of all time and a great teammate. They have the same rings but Duncan didn't get to ride another top 10 player of all time for 3 of them.

Well he got Robinson, Parker, and Ginobili. Just some hall of Famers in their own right. No biggie.

John Wall has a great midrange jumper. Russ has a great midrange jumper. KD, LeBron, Marc Gasol, Tony Parker, Timmy, etc.

Not every team believes Morey ball is the way of the future.

Agree to disagree.

Who cares that they have the same amount of rings, that means nothing to me.

To start a team: Duncan simply because HOF big men are harder to find than SGs.

HOF big men have a bigger impact, but HOF SG's are harder to find. Weakest position in the league right now.

The whole this player won because of these players argument is dumb. All greats won with other great or really good players. Dirk is really the only recent one to win without another "great" player (jason kidd was way past his prime)
