When asked about not being a good friend, Kobe Bryant responds, "Friends come and go but banners hang forever."

OK, I get it. Kobe is a competitor.

Dude has jumped the shark on proving that to us. We get it. How many different ways do we have to hear it?

So he should be making tons of friends now since his banner hanging days are long gone.

Until the sun implodes and kills all the surrounding planets and the human race then no one will remember him or his banners

There's nothing wrong with that mentality imo and I think we're seeing it play out in a few different situations as we speak. DeAndre Jordan is annoyed because Chris Paul is riding his arse and it seems like the LeBron/Kevin Love falling out could be a similar situation. At some point it's not about friendships. Windows close and you have to strike when the iron is hot.

Next time he's in a jam or really needs someone to talk to, tell him to call one of his banners.

He's gonna end up like Kareem.

Bitter and oblivious as to why nobody around the league wants anything to do with him when he comes back looking for that job.

Interesting. I hear a ton of retired athletes when asked what they miss about playing they say the guys in the huddle going to battle with your teamates. Not nessesarily the rings.

I wonder if he will feel the same in 10 years.

Sounds like a pretty unhealthy mindset. It doesn't have to be one or the other
