The announcers had the same math deficiency. They wanted Iowa to kick the field goal even earlier.

I have to assume he just figured they were talking about 17-6 with a minute to go instead of way earlier when they missed it.

Ahh.. that's right. And it makes a lot more sense from Ferentz's perspective.

And it tells me I should sleep.

Yes but the quote is talking about when Iowa chose to kick a 38 yard fg with about 6 min left down 14-6. It was around 4th and 4 iirc.

Blocking on the kickoff return at the end was horrid.

A convoy that doesn't block anybody and then trips their own player who was in the clear. He could have gone to the house with a minute left.

Then onside a just a FG to win.

Is that an actual quote or did you waste your time making that up when you have the wrong score?

You must have comprehension issues. The reporter was clearly referencing the FG attempt when Iowa was down 14-6 with five minutes let in the game. And here is a clip of the actual video of the Ferentz quote. LINK

I fail to see what the outrage is about. Trying the FG with 6 minutes left on 4th and 4 was the right thing to do....they had plenty of time to get the ball back and score a touchdown which would have given them the lead. Coach is right....they had to score twice to win. Kicking the field goal there means you don't have to rely on making the two point play just to TIE the game later.

Kirk Ferentz gives me hope as a professional man that my mediocre performance will be rewarded as long as I nod my head to everything.

Kirk Ferentz is what you call failing up.

Its not about the decision, its about the ridiculous quote. 8 points is still considered a 1 possesion game.

Its like with jordan jefferson had that ridiculous quote about being in 3rd and 8 and "needing a 15 yd pass completion now"

Except jj was an amateur athlete, and this guy is highly paid COACH

Well down 17-6 he's not wrong. You don't want to waste anymore time and miss the chance of getting certain points. In Saban's first season at Bama against Arky down 9 I think, he kicked the FG with like 2 mins left and got the onside kick and we scored a TD to win.
