quote:

"He's a hell of a basketball player, he really is," McHale said. "And to James' credit, I will say this: He organizes guys in the summer. He does a lot of stuff. He does a lot of those things. When I was talking more about leadership is ... it's a tie game at half. It's a playoff game, or you're playing another team that's tough and rumble, and they're going to get after you. And all of a sudden, with four minutes to go in the third, you're down nine. They're getting every loose ball, they're getting every rebound, they're doing this stuff. It's not about skill at that point. It's about will. I gotta impose my will on you.

"James at that point gets a little bit -- that's not his personality. Chris Paul, in turn, will get in your face, go nose-to-nose with you, say, 'Hey, let's go,' and I think that's what you need. Draymond Green does a great job, whenever you need a spark. He's out there going jawing with somebody."

I wouldn't say "double down" as much as I would "clarify".

His performance against a depleted Spurs team last year shows how soft he is.

Pretty interesting that he mentions Draymond Green, seeing as Curry and Durant are the Harden-type players for the Warriors, but they are never criticized for not being the ones leading.

I guess since it's his former coach it's controversial, but I don't see how anybody could really argue with what he said

I think you're misunderstanding.

He's saying that when you're in the playoffs and shite gets tough James doesn't elevate those around him.

James has done pretty well considering the help he has had around him.

No where did he say Harden is a great leader. I want to know how you can read that quote and twist that in your head. It's a skill.

CP3 should make this team mentally tougher. I like the addition from the intangibles side of the equation a lot. My biggest thing would be taking the ball out of Harden's hands. To me, he is the most complete offensive player in the NBA the way the league is officiated. He could have easily averaged 40 and 8 last year. At times I felt he was unselfish to a fault.

Chris Paul is a damn good player. However, he's nowhere near Harden at this stage in his career, and he wouldn't have been my first choice to pair with JH.

Will be interesting to see how much they improve, or digress.

I mean, I don't disagree with McHale.

Patrick Beverley was the emotional leader of the previous teams.

Think SL won and CL lost last night bubba.

And if we're only talking basketball I'll take SL's winning culture over CL.
