This looks incredibly similar on the interior to the As upcoming stadium in Vegas. Architecture firms just copying and pasting with little imagination or appreciation of what makes something classic, or not.

Been to Kaufmann twice, last in 2019. There is nothing wrong with that stadium or location- they just don't have the latest and greatest thing.

I hope the taxpayers tell them to frick off.

If the 2B price tag includes an entertainment district it makes it easier to swallow

No it doesn't. Cookie-cutter entertainment districts are a way to fleece support for new stadium projects, and then justify raising prices across the board for fans.

I just don't get how teams/cities can justify that cost for a baseball stadium. Football stadiums, maybe, but there are limitations to what you can do and what events you can host with a baseball stadium

Seemed like after the Miami Marlins boondoggle we were getting away from tax payers funded stadiums. Believe Clippers and Chargers/Rams stadiums were owner fund (mostly).

I’m over these boring, cookie cutter new ballparks.

Jerry World is a destination stadium, if you travel there for a game there is a really good chance that your visiting team will be the majority.

Side note: The paddle boarder in the pond just cracks me up.

So they want to spend 2 billion to build a newer stadium comparable what they already have

This only worked for the Braves because they were in a shitty part of town.

Danilo

Once they open the books, they will realize mayor rucked la out of billions. Stan doesn't pay for shite, u less hea getting it all back plus hundreds of millions more.

I bet the tifs and tax breaks he got costs the city billions in the end. People think these owners aren't getting the money back in huge tax breaks. Lol

I like the NKC design better but the East Village desperately needs this development. I will be happy either way. I love Kauffman but baseball belongs downtown, not in a seedy suburb.

I don’t understand why they don’t further renovate Kaufman if they want it to look just like Kaufman but newer.

Well I think the new Royals owner wants more suites. The bigger reason is Royals stadium and Arrowhead share the same location. Well the Hunt family that owns the Chiefs wants the Royals to move so they can then develop the entire area around that location. The area has needed new development for decades there's nothing there.

Didn't they just remodel their stadium within the last decade?

The Royals should probably choose the NKC location, there's more room, that area has been adding new businesses and residential development, there will be better parking opportunities and they will not be under the influence of the Jackson county sports commission or the city of Kansas City.

What’s wrong with Kaufman? Another classic stadium demolished

I believe Clark Hunt/Kansas City Chiefs want the whole property that Arrowhead and Kaufman Stadium occupy. Chiefs want to take the property and develop it into a year round destination.

I love sports but loathe the building of stadiums on the public dime. The idea of funding profitable businesses owned by billionaires just to further improve their margins really disgusts me.
