Win win for both sides. The AL is wide open for Oakland this year so it makes sense to go for it and Boston gets a power bat that will play well at Fenway. Cespedes has wow power so he gets a lot of hype but he has been not as important to the core of that lineup as Moss and Donaldson. This makes sense for both sides

I barely follow baseball anymore but isn't cespedes one of the best young players in the game?

Yeah they're pretty damn stacked everywhere now

They might have SOME drop off in run production but in the playoffs in the past they couldn't get last the Tigers sick lineup. American League this year is really down this year with the real only threat being Detroit and maaaaaybe the Angels

I wouldn't go that far... but he's pretty solid.

Depends on if you consider 28 young

He's a 28 year old with power and one year left on his deal. He doesn't do that much else well.

28 isn't young but it isn't old. he should be in his prime which tells you that his numbers now are probably as good as they will get. he will be a low avg low on base guy with big power and strong arm. Not really a star IMO.

He has one of the strongest arms in the OF

He hits the ball far and has a really strong arm so he makes the highlight reels. With how the A's operate they will probably dig up someone like Donaldson or Moss this offseason to play RF that will come close to his production.

Thats great, but in the grand scheme of things it has a pretty small effect on the game. Fun as shite to watch. And he still plays LF so thats what they think of his defense.

I was just saying

I think a move to Boston will probably help him honestly playing with Ortiz. You may see Cespedes creep up to the .260-.270 range in average and .320-.330 OBP with a bit more power hitting away from Oakland

Which probably won't mean too much anymore since he's in a shallower LF and has the Green Monster behind him

I can't imagine Big Papi as a teacher of the game.

I could in a sense of helping Cespedes, not helping Brock Holt or Jackie Bradley.... The whole foreign thing... Plus Papi has spoken about Cespedes glowing in the past

He'll get better due to ball park and in my opinion, the bright lights and media exposure he's going to be getting. I think he's that type of player that will strive on the big stage.

They could move Moss to the OF and start their cathers at DH & 1B and not skip a beat.
