Which guy do you think was the best golfer of all-time?

I'm going with Woods. He's still relatively young and hasn't done much in recent history & most likely done with winning but he pretty much dominated for a while & that puts him above Nicklaus.

TOP 5:
~Woods
~Nicklaus
~Snead
~Palmer
~Watson (if not for his near 2009 major win at the age of 58 he wouldn't be in the top 5 I don't think but I do think that would be the icing on the cake that nudges him into the top 5)

I'd replace Palmer and Watson with Ben Hogan and Bobby Jones.

As for Nicklaus vs Woods, Woods was better over a short period of time, but Jack was better over a longer peiod of time and had the better career.

You can not compare like in baseball. Nicholas and Palmer used Wood drivers in there day and the ball was so different.

I like to say they were all great in there time.

Ok... Sooooo, can you answer the question? It's 1 or the other. Appreciate your response & not trying to be rude. I guess it goes to show how good of a comparison thread it is when the first reply can't even give a direct vote but the question is asking for 1 or the other.

Nicklaus did not spend his time arse-raping IHOP waitresses while his kids were asleep at home.

None one will shed a tear when that phony-smile-face, Woods, croaks.

Truth. (Thanks for being honest)

I can't stand Tiger Woods. He's the best to play the game though.

Tiger Woods was a great golfer. He was not better than Jack.

During his run from 97-2008 Tiger dominated everyone, no argument there. Jack was #1 in golf for over 20 years and played against multiple major winners regularly.

It's no fault of Tiger's, but he's had less quality players to compete against overall.

Nicklaus is the greatest.

46 times he finished 1, 2 or 3 in the Majors with 18 wins, 19 runnerup, 9 third place finishes, 56 top 5s, 73 top 10s.

Woods: 14 wins, 6 seconds, 4 thirds, 31 top 5s, 38 top 10s.

Tiger needs 35 more top 10 finishes at the majors

And lol @ the dude talking about "top 10 finishes." Woods WON many more tourneys than Nicklaus.

Typical argument on here, if I didn't see it in the last 10 years it didn't exist. Facts are facts.

Majors: Masters, US Open, British Open, PGA championship.

Nicklaus' record in the majors is unparalleled.

Woods is a great player.

Tiger is the greatest of all-time. The only thing that stopped him was injuries.

If he didn't have the injuries that essentially ended his career, he would have absolutely obliterated all of Jack's records.

Gotta agree, Jack was my hero....but in their primes I think Woods would take more from Jack than Jack from Tiger.

Now I don't think Jack would piss his pants like most of Tigers better contemporaries would do in his presence.

That's one thing I think you say on Jack's account. I think between Watson and Trevino they took 5 majors from Jack with just stellar, outstanding play.

I think the Micelson's, Els, Duval's, Sings and most of the best of Tigers peers in his prime tended to melt down when in Tigers presence in majors.

But still, I'd give put money on Tiger if they were matched in their primes with the same equipment, etc. etc., in their primes.
