I know it would never happen, but I would love to see this as a kickboxing match.

You're trying to get me to tell you why you should be interested?

If you're not interested, move on.

ETA: And it would be wise to save the "people with a brain" insults. Do we need to revisit your NASCAR thread?

This is so stupid. It's not like McGregor has mike Tyson punching power or something. Even if he manages to connect, it's not even going to be the hardest punch Floyd has taken.

McGregor reverts back to MMA instinct

It's the only reason people will watch. They'll tune in hoping that McGregor just loses his shite once it becomes obvious that he won't be winning a boxing match against Mayweather.

Mayweather has to have that in the back of his mind, too, so if this actually happens, that contract must have some unreal penalties built in for that contingency.

So, the question is whether McGregor is OK with being disqualified and fighting for free if he gets the satisfaction of landing a kick flush under Mayweather's jaw or to the side of his head or getting him on the ground and making him pound the mat for a couple of seconds while his leg gets worked.

Yeah, the lawyers have to prevent that outcome.

I doubt McGregor will do anything to mess up the payday. It's big time retirement money. Those paydays don't happen in MMA.

Although I would love to see it. 10th round. McGregor getting peppered. Can't land anything. Says frick it and starts a real fight.

The press conferences will be the highlight of this fight.

So what?

Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all-time...

And they're fighting under boxing rules?

It's absurd. Is this for like the 18-22 crowd who thinks MMA fighters have the boxing skills of elite boxers?

Because people with a brain won't be buying this hogwash.
Bro. How is this hard to understand?

First off, McGregor is every bit as famous as Mayweather right now.

Second, people are interested in seeing the 2 best guys in these combat sports is interesting.

If Conor wins it's a massive black eye on a dude's record who most people despise. If Floyd kicks his arse then we get to see McGregor methodically get his arse beat.

Plus it's just really different. There's potential for fireworks. Is Floyd going to run from a guy who isn't a boxer? Is Conor gonna be super aggressive? It'd go against his nature not to.

I don't understand why people are confused why this would be an interesting fight. IMO, the burden of proof that this isn't interesting at all is on you.

Why does LF7 even play RB? It's not like he has Usain Bolt level sleep.

"I do not find this interesting. Therefore, I do not understand how anyone could find this interesting."

That's the stellar logic we're dealing with.

I mean, look who we're discussing this with. It seems like he has literally the worst possible take on literally every topic.

Yes, I realize I used literally twice. I feel like it still isn't hyperbole.

This is such a cash grab.

Mayweather gets on last big payday and McGregor makes more on this fight than he has made in his entire UFC careeer.

What?

The people who think McGregor has a chance seem to think that Floyd will dance around and evade most of his punches but if he can connect it'll put Mayweather on the mat. That would be a fine point if Floyd were fighting a heavyweight boxer with truckloads of punching power. But McGregor doesn't punch any harder than the hardest hitters Floyd has faced

I'm not gonna order it, but there's a damn good chance I'll end up paying a cover to go somewhere to watch this fight for the tiniest of chances Conor can tag Mayweather.

"People with a brains" could very well be buying it just to see two loud mouths take some swings at each other. Nothing more.

"People with brains" wouldn't assume someone else's purchase was for any specific inclination whatsoever.
