I know. I still have no clue how he's running as far as he is. But I still wish I'd gotten a future on him. I'm a sucker for red with lots of white.
well the guy on HRN got some future action down on him - twice, I believe....as he told the viewers a million times after the SA Derby.
If he repeats that effort, he wins. I just have my doubts.

Apparently ride on curlin had a good open gallop this am. Kinda wish borel didn't have the ride because he'd be a better price.

Even though he worked bad, chitu will scratch from the derby trial and enter the derby
I need 1 more to drop out so commanding curve gets in.

I used to live up there and was able to got to a couple of Derby's but always in the infield. Next time I go I'll have on jacket and the wife will have on a big hat. Want to sit with the rich folks.

I've never had any desire to go to the infield. I guess it's because I'm a horse person

Can you walk around the infield of you don't have infield tickets?
Posted on 4/23/14 at 9:46 pm to PANTHER
Why would you want to?
I'm not sure. I've only been twice. Back when I lived in ky I always had a horse show derby weekend.

Just to say I experienced that part.

My early pick is Hopportunity. Good price and that looked like close to a non-try in the Santa Anita Derby.
Keep in mind starters that did not run during 2 yr old season are almost non-existent as derby winners.

I agree. The infield isn't the place to be to see horses. More of a party than a race. Regular days at Keeneland were great to have good seats and get to see the horses up close.

But the Apollo curse can always be broken.
He's definitely gotten done seasoning this year.
There are too damn many plain bays this year. I could only tell bafferts saddle pads apart from others on the streaming gallop.

I'm pretty sure that was intense holiday I saw cross cantering this morning. Makes me think something is going on behind with him since he did that in the stretch of the la derby

Well, my longshot (who may not even make the field) looked like shot working this morning. Went 5/8ths in 1:02 under some urging and swapped leads a few times in the stretch. Galloped out a slow 6f in 1:18. Dammit commanding curve!
Medal count may sneak in to my exacta. He's run a lot recently but dynaformers seem to be tough.

Candy Boy was a favorite then he ran 3rd off of a long layoff. Aspy do you think he can move forward in a big way and finish Top 3?

He looked fabulous in his work this morning.

Field is still changing. I should be happy that commanding curve is in now (ring weekend spiked a temp), but his work was bad testerday. I wanna see how a few if the out if towners get over the track this week. WISH chrome and wicked would get a work at Churchill.
I'm very much loving wicked strong but he can melt down in crowds :(
Speaking of frac, I've been following frac daddy all year. They finally put him on turf and he won and then took the Ben Ali at keeneland over the synthetic. He's possibly making a run at royal ascot. I love that horse.

Good Morning! I've worked all freaking weekend long but I'm finally off today. Ready to bet on some ponies today in prep for next weekend. Anyone else playing today?

I may if anything catches my eye.

Good Derby Trial last night - 3 horses noses apart at the wire. Rosie got DQd...she and the ultimate winner were ping-ponging each other at the top of the stretch and then her horse bore out in the last 100 yards.
For all of the grief the TP is giving Churchill, and for good reason, I still thought the FG meet was the best it's been in several years at the end; the secretary started writing more sensible conditioned claiming races for one thing (non-winners in X months OR NW lifetime so you aren't stick with race after race of pure NW2). And, as always, still much better than Oaklawn.
