Most overpaid was Sam Bradford on his rookie nfl contract.

it's a terrible contract but he's not the most overpaid

that would be jimmy graham

Yea but the Cavs know what they are getting with Tristan, at least with Graham and others mentioned in this thread there was a little hope behind the deal.

From the cavs games I watched last year he's an absolute beast on the offensive and defensive glass not just "above average"

I've seen smart people argue on both sides of the Bonilla contract.

he is an excellent pick and roll defender. one of the best in the league. he is a great energy defensive rebounder.

is he worth 84 million? right now? no.
but in three years at the age of 26 with an increased cap, he'll be right at value.

Andrea Bargnani says hello!

2 years over 23 mil and he's never on the court.

Kobe earned his contract though. Tristan just rebounded and had a lot of energy, but in reality he is just a tall Dellavadova. As I mentioned before, the Cavs and everyone else knew exactly what they were getting with Tristan, there was hope in others mentioned in this thread (kobe).

Mike Hampton is my pick. I can never get over what that he did to the Braves. And they badly needed his bat in the lineup.

A very weird juxtaposition, here.

What has Kobe done to earn his current deal, other than be hurt and not play basketball? Oh-- and chase off the last of the decent teammates he had in the last phase of his career.

Thompson, by contrast, has not only rebounded, but defended well and given the Cavs a lot more front line flexibility. Is he a bit overpaid? Sure. Would the original Cavs proposal in the offseason have been much better? Sure. Is his contract radically out of whack? Not really; its a year ahead of the curve, but not ridiculously so.

An 8-10 point guy who averages 8 boards a game, while playing 25-30 minutes is going to get paid like this, particularly if they're playing for a contender. In a year, it'll be a touch high, but very easily defensible; in two years, it'll be normal; in three years, it'll be not quite favorable enough to be a trade chip, but something that can be worked into a trade without issue.

is it though? It comes off the books right as the league gets an influx of cash like never seen before

I don't know. Be one of the 10 greatest players to ever dribble a basketball, spend his entire career inside the organization, own basically every single organization record, at the absolute worst is 1A on the all time laker rankings, won 5 championships and made it 7

I'm sure the current front office mess had nothing to do with anything

I'm gonna go with Matt Flynn. He signed like a $30 million dollar contract after he had 1 good game as a back-up.

So he gets paid millions to be a back-up and never play.
