i remember how great it was before the BCS era when you had the big bowls on the holidays when you were off work.

then the bcs came and they started stretching the games out over the week on work nites. it sucks when your team is playing it's bowl on a work nite, like this year on a Tuesday.
So you are pissed that your teams game and your work schedule conflict?

of course we're going to continue to get the same crappy schedule.

Meh... the only negative about this years bowl/playoff schedule is that the semi final games were on the 31st (when the majority of people could careless about football). Outside of that, the schedule was completely fine.

in a way, things were almost more enjoyable before the bcs came around, as many times the #1 and 2 teams weren't playing each other. yes there was uncertainty and disagreement, but there were also essentially 2 championship games.

edit- all the big games were within 2 days of each other as well

At night is OK.

Last year was MUCH worse for LSU- they played a bowl game DURING THE DAY on a work day against Notre Dame in a shitty bowl.

I was pissed that I wouldnt be able to see it, but they losr and I'm glad I skipped it.

I could see when the new LA mega stadium gets built for the Rams plus whoever that it becomes the permanent site for the playoff championship, and it's New Years Day at night. Then have the semis be played with 1 and 2 seeds hosting on Dec 21-23. That moves the playoffs outside of the entire bowl system (except losers of the semis could be eligible for bowls I guess if they wanted?), would deal with the issues of fan enthusiasm, travel costs to some extent, and would break the hold that the bowl system seems to still have over the process.

This is the downside of having ESPN/ABC broadcast 90% of the games, with most being on ESPN. Back in the day, you could have a lot of games on one day because ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. all had games and they would overlap/compete.

Now that ESPN is the primary bowl provider, they string them out so ratings can be maximized.
