Is Brock Huard telling me that wildfires is another reason not to play?

Listening on ESPNU SiriusXM radio College Sports Radio and he rambled through reasons in addition to Covid as to why not to play and mentions all the wildfires out West. Isn't this fairly common this time of year? Didn't Cal have a game last year with smoke drifting over the stadium?

Is he just speaking as a defeated PAC 12 blowhard, or is he really believing these things as a "Karen" type whiner?

FWIW there were considerations of postponing the ARZ/SF game this past Sunday due to smoke in the air from the wildfires around SF

fortunately the air quality index was good enough to allow the game to go on as scheduled

I mean the SEA/NEP game is in question at the moment because of air quality. The Mariners/Giants game was moved because of air quality. It isn't that far fetched of a situation.

The Pac 12 commish mentioned it. Huard was just relaying that information.

Huard has been adamantly for playing, as far as I've seen.

Tell you what, those wildfires and air quality issues are a MUCH MUCH better reason to postpone sports than COVID19.

As far as air quality goes, this is historically bad in the major populated areas. It is very temporary, so postponing (in a COVIDless world) would be only step needed, not cancellation, unless schedules dictated it.

It's obviously not permanent, but it would be impossible to play an outdoor football game in Portland, OR right now safely. Outdoor cardio is just not an option until they get a big rain to put these fires out.

I really can’t get over these people that make a living off of people playing football, actively advocating for no football.

Huard is MAGA and gets beat up pretty bad for his viewpoints being in Seattle. He is very opposed to the COVID lockdowns. If he had his way, nothing would have been canceled. On the radio though, he's probably playing more middle of the road and throwing out different viewpoints.

there's been multiple sporting events in California cancelled, moved, or postponed the past few years due to fires and resulting air quality.

it's a legitimate concern.

Poor Air Quality is a reasonable reason not to play.

Well a baseball game in Seattle had to be cancelled today because its some of the worst air quality in their history. So yeah its a concern if the kids can breath.

Air quality is a legit reason not to play or practice on specific days. The NFL cancels games with an AQI of 200 or over.

There are certain areas that wouldn't be able to practice now in Oregon and Washington.

Trust me it sucks. You get a scratchy throat and a headache just being outside too long.
