I'm an astros homer but a big judge fan. I did some research last night and thought I would share. Didn't want to high jack anyone's thread because it was not related to any threads.
1. He was a three sport star in high school.
2. He average 18 and 12 on the basketball court his sr year and had small schools offer.
3. He had over 900 yards receiving and 17 tds and a tight end his sr year with offers from d1 schools to play football and baseball.
4. He won 9 games on the mound his sr year with a sub 1 era. Some schools wanted him to both hit and pitch.
5. He played first in hs not outfield.
6. He only hit 12 homeruns his jr year of college.
7. Baseball was always his favorite sport and he had no interest in playing other sports or multi sport in college.
Tldr: dude is crazy athletic

8. He looks like an MLB The Show created player if you maxed out his height, weight, chin, and brow.

MLB has got to be falling over themselves to have a probably black (he's adopted and never confirmed his race) face of MLB type player, hitting 1,000 homers for the New York Yankees. A guy who chose baseball over offers to play other sports at a high level. That's like a dream come true for MLB.
MLB has struggled for years to appeal to young black men. I imagine the costs vs youth football or basketball in addition to the much slower path to stardom with baseball has become off putting to guys who in many cases are athletic enough to be great at whatever sport they choose.

Baseball just sucks at promotion, Andrew McCutchen should have been the face of baseball for a few seasons, CC, Rivera, Chapman, etc.
They suck at promoting minorities, they suck at promoting stars, they piss me off with that crap.

If McCutchen played for anyone other than Pittsburgh, I think he would promoted more, the others have off the field issues.
Chapman was suspended for firing 8 shots into his garage after choking and slam his girlfriend into the same garage wall.
CC two years ago left his team right before post season to enter rehab.
I thought MLB did a good job promoting Pujols, Pedro, Manny, Ortiz, and Sosa.

What CC did two years ago doesn't mean squat, he was past his prime two years ago. His prime was with the Indians and early Yankee years.
Wait you mention problems then list Manny,Pedro, and Ortiz?
When was the last MLB player to really promote a game, shoes, clothing, chips, comes, anything but Gatorade.

Because as often the case on this board, you're just another insecure little white man struggling with the notion of "sexual inferiority" to the black man.
