use publicly-available data

It isn't publicly available, that is the point.

They know which players are being selected at what frequencies on their website. That allows them to make much more informed decisions for sleepers. To win in daily fantasy, you have to differentiate your line up from the masses. Knowing which good players are being selected at a lower rate gives you a major advantage.

the commercials are fricking brutal

the tv commercials are all a bunch of drunk dude bros douching out in a bar and the radio ads are all some shithead that sounds like the a-hole waiter w/the flair in Office Space.

the reason for this is because their target demographic lives north of DC and those commercials play to them perfectly.

A few of the last couple of posts have touched on the issue, player ownership is one of the more difficult things to predict from week to week. You have some obvious ones, like this week it was obvious Karlos Williams would be very highly owned because he was priced at 3.5k and getting the start. But then most of the middling options you have a lot of surprises one way or the other on ownership levels. Finding a solid option that is low owned is pretty much the name of the DFS game.

You would have to assume ownership levels between the 2 sites would be similar with some predictable differences due to pricing and scoring. If you had real time ownership levels for one site, you would be at a massive advantage at the other site.

Being so closely related to online poker and its scandals, it's not a scandal per se, but both companies need to handle this in a proper way or it could be an issue.

Take a look at who is investing in these businesses. You will be seeing the commercials for a long time.

this is nothing like insider trading. this would be like if a guy working in finance at a big firm had access to a great algorithm of the firm and used that to invest on his own, finding great success.

It's a pretty big advantage. Let's say three to four guys u know are owned around 40%. The pros have optimal lineups where they can lock players. They can now take those three or four and pair them with the optimal players for each lineup. These guys are playing a ton of entries. Over a hundred. He can also take the data of the most owned and not use them to get very different teams then all others. It's a huge advantage either way he did it.

The ownership for the large million tourneys are about 0-5% difference. Very close.

Me and all of my friends play on FanDuel, we quit the "normal" yearly fantasy bullshite to play real fantasy for real money.

Sorry LA can't play along.

We've won over 10 grand this NFL/CFB season so far.

Mostly CFB, thank you Fournette.

the 1 million dollar winner in Week 2 I think had Travis Benjamin and he scored 32 points.

but there were a lot of name players in his lineup.

a lot of Steelers and Patriots.

so its not like you have to be a contrarian all the time.

Not at all, it's really easy, you just have to hit a player or two for cheap, that goes off that week.

My friend won 6 grand in a $5 entry for CFB 2 weeks ago, he took Fournette and the OU QB that had like 6 TD's that week to get there. He was a point and a half from 10K top prize.
