Not a bad idea.

Tell me about the blue jackets.

CBJ are a really young team with a lot of good talent. Best scorer is Ryan Johansen who I think was tied for 11th in goals in the league (regular season) at only 21 years old. They play really physical hockey and love to hit to compensate for the lack of offensive power. Don't really have much of a history (this is the team's 11th season) but they are building it, team is headed in a very good direction right now. Watching this team play now compared to 3-4 years ago is a joy.

Youngest team in the league and have a blue collar approach. Not really any superstars on the roster (although Johansen will be), but a lot of solid players and a ton of depth. They outhit and outwork a lot of their opponents to make up for any talent gaps. They are slowly starting to win the city back with their recent success (a lot of fans dropped off with the consistent losing seasons and terrible trades). And Nationwide Arena is probably one of the most electric hockey environments in the league when Columbus fans show.

Also, the two guys that had a huge hand in helping the Blues to what they are today are now managing the CBJ front office.

The future looks really really good as a CBJ fan.

Also, the Avs are a really good choice for a team right now. Love what they're doing plus they have the history.

More and more it's looking like colorado. I like the IDEA of saint louis, and they're closer, but I have enough teams that I really truly follow and care about that let me down so I don't need another one.

Next step: Find most visited Avs message board and begin posting.

Blackhawks. Best sweaters in the NHL.

Play physical (not dirty to the jealous Detroit fan). Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook, Saad...enough said. The 'stache grabbing his nuts arguing with refs. What more could you want?

Give the Preds a chance. They are close enough that you can see them live, Nashville is a cool city, and you will be keeping the love in the south.

Whenever I have visited Nashville I have always been impressed with the support that the Preds seem to have city-wide. I see lots of stickers, shirts, etc. And you know it isn't band-wagon b/c they have never won.

Carolina Hurricanes would keep the southern thing going, and they have a bit of history with a Stanley Cup championship and another appearance. Raleigh isn't nearly as cool as Nashville though.

Montreal Canadiens.

Great history, best uniforms in pro sports, but their last Cup was 20 years ago so you won't be a frontrunner.

No, but I have a valid reason. One of the things I HATE most in sports are bandwagon hoppers. I despise that type of fan. I'm 28...my whole entire life nobody I knew gave the slightest amount of a frick about the falcons until 1998. Then the whole state jumped on board. And then, and still to this day, those same people vary their vocal-ness towards the team depending on how good they are. When they're good they go to the games, post on fb, etc. When they're bad they won't even watch on TV and might not even know what time they play. I refused to associate myself with the falcons. I will say that I don't dislike the team itself, and don't mind seeing them do well because they are the home town team. But I wanted someone else.

Well since you like a Miami team already, why don't you go with the Panthers?

If you're willing to go international with it, how about the Montreal Canadiens? One of the most storied franchises in the league, they hold the record for most Stanley Cup wins, but haven't won it all in a good long while. I think their uniforms look pretty cool...can't speak to how cool a city Montreal is, but I hear it's nice.

And they are responsible for possibly one of the coolest fricking pregame intro's in all of sports LINK

Another thing I was thinking about this morning..

I'm really leaning towards Colorado, but haven't made my decision "final" yet. I want to watch them and StL and get a feel for which one I enjoy watching most. However, it occurred to me that since both teams are in the playoffs there's a chance one could end up winning it all. What if I pick Colorado for instance, and they go on to win the cup? That would suck, as it would directly violate one of the biggest things that I am vehemently against. Quite the conundrum.

Team with great history, city with hot women, great bars and restaurants.

I'm a Rangers fan. I understand the hate for the city but it's a cool place to visit and they are always on TV (moved to Nashville from NYC in September and with the NHL Network combined with NBC sports averaged 1.5 games every two weeks, which who cares until end of football season?). They are a good team but they only win the cup every couple of decades so it will be frustrating.

I'd go with a team with a strong goalie and a couple of scorers.

Quite possible. And after StL made the trade for Ryan Miller at the end of Feb, many considered them to be the favorites to win the Cup this season. Late season injuries to seemingly half their active roster caused them to go on a big losing streak the last 2-3 week of the season, so many people jumped off the idea of them winning it all. But, quite possibly, the two teams in your lead (Avs & StL) are still the favorites to win the West (although I still think its Chicago) and ultimately the Cup since most view the West as a lot stronger than the East.

Which brings me back to my original suggestion: THE STARS!!! :nana:

I guess. I think Boston would probably be the most bandwagon out of any of them, though. I just wanted an excuse to share the pregame intro. Seriously watch it it. Too cool.

Yeah, but they're Canadians. As a proud American, I don't think a pregame intro gets any better than the national anthem in Chicago.

But the Montreal intro is badass.

Eh, this early into the playoffs your odds of that happening aren't too bad. The Avs flat out sucked last year, and had been mediocre for years. I don't know if their resurgence this year makes it more or less bandwagon-y. Just depends on how you look at it, I guess!
